CHENNAI, India — Two-time National Award-winning music director G V Prakash has revealed that actor Sivakarthikeyan has sung a rebel song in his upcoming film Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara.
Sharing the update on social media, G V Prakash announced that Sivakarthikeyan has lent his voice to a track titled Tharakku Tharakku, describing it as a rebel song from the film. He also posted a photograph featuring himself with Sivakarthikeyan and director Sudha Kongara.
The announcement comes shortly after the release of the film’s third single, Nammakaana Kaalam, a celebratory number sung by Haricharan, Nakash Aziz and Velmurugan, with lyrics by Arivu. Industry observers have noted that certain phrases in the song stress the importance of standing up for one’s language, leading to speculation that the film may touch upon the language movement that shaped Tamil Nadu politics in the 1960s and 1970s.
Sivakarthikeyan began dubbing for Parasakthi in the last week of November. Production house Dawn Pictures had earlier shared a video of the actor dubbing under Sudha Kongara’s supervision, announcing that the film is slated for a theatrical release on January 14 to coincide with the Pongal festival.
Actress Sreeleela, who plays the female lead, and Ravi Mohan, who portrays the antagonist, have also completed dubbing for their roles. Sreeleela has dubbed in her own voice for the film.
The makers officially confirmed on October 21 that shooting had been completed. The final schedule in Pollachi wrapped up in August, following earlier schedules in Madurai and Sri Lanka. Sources said several key sequences were filmed during the Pollachi schedule, which began on July 18, although Sivakarthikeyan joined the unit slightly later.
Parasakthi has generated significant interest among fans and film buffs. The period drama, which also stars Atharvaa, is believed to be set in the 1960s in the then state of Madras.
A teaser released earlier shows the story unfolding at Pachaiyappa’s College in Madras, with Sivakarthikeyan portrayed as a fearless student leader rallying others in protest against an unjust system. The teaser also suggests that Ravi Mohan’s character is determined to eliminate him.
Tentatively referred to as SK25 as Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th film, Parasakthi features music by G V Prakash, cinematography by Ravi K Chandran and stunt choreography by Supreme Sundar. (Source: IANS)
