Delhi Police Arrest Alleged Repeat Offender Wanted in 69 Criminal Cases
Accused had been absconding after being declared a proclaimed offender in a theft case, police say

NEW DELHI — Delhi Police on Saturday announced the arrest of an alleged habitual offender wanted in dozens of criminal cases across the national capital, describing the operation as a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on proclaimed offenders and repeat offenders.
The accused, identified as Babloo alias Narendra alias Prem, was arrested by a team from the Hauz Qazi Police Station after what officials described as weeks of technical surveillance, intelligence gathering, and field monitoring.
Police said the 45-year-old resident of Multani Dhanda in Paharganj had been absconding to avoid court proceedings after being declared a proclaimed offender in connection with a theft-related case registered at Rajender Nagar Police Station.
According to investigators, the accused was officially declared a proclaimed offender on April 2, 2026, by a judicial magistrate at Tis Hazari Court.
A special police team led by officers from Central Delhi carried out the operation under the supervision of local police officials, including Assistant Commissioner of Police Sulekha Jagarwar.
Officials said police repeatedly raided locations linked to the accused but initially failed to locate him. Authorities later received specific intelligence indicating his presence in the Wazirpur area. Acting on the tip-off, police conducted a raid in JJ Colony and took him into custody on May 7.
Police records indicate the accused has allegedly been linked to 69 criminal cases registered over several years at multiple police stations across Delhi, including cases involving theft, robbery, snatching, illegal arms possession, assault, cheating, forgery, and criminal intimidation.
Authorities said cases against him were registered in areas including Connaught Place, Nabi Karim, Paharganj, Rajinder Nagar, Model Town, Kashmiri Gate, and Janakpuri, among others.
Investigators also said the accused frequently changed locations and allegedly continued criminal activities despite previous arrests and legal action.
Delhi Police described the arrest as a significant achievement in its campaign targeting habitual offenders and individuals evading court proceedings. Further legal proceedings in the case are ongoing. (Source: IANS)
