NEW DELHI, India — Delhi Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) after taking note of reports that a pre-print version of an unpublished book authored by former Army Chief General M.M. Naravane is being circulated online without mandatory official clearance.

According to police sources, information surfaced on social media platforms and news forums suggesting that a pre-print copy of the book, titled “Four Stars of Destiny,” was available on the internet even though required approvals from competent authorities had not been granted.

A preliminary verification found that a typeset PDF version of the book, bearing the same title and apparently prepared by Penguin Random House India Private Limited, was accessible on certain websites, the sources said.

Investigators also discovered that several online shopping and marketing platforms were displaying the book’s final cover, creating the impression that it was already available for sale.

Given the sensitivity of the matter, particularly in view of the author’s former role as Army Chief, the case has been handed over to the Special Cell of Delhi Police for investigation into a possible leak or breach.

Police are examining how the manuscript was leaked, who uploaded it online, and whether any organized network was involved in circulating the unauthorized material. Digital trails are being analyzed, and coordination is underway with online platforms to trace the origin and spread of the PDF copy.

The development follows an incident last week in which Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was seen holding what was claimed to be a copy of the book inside the Parliament complex.

The episode sparked a major political controversy, leading to disruptions in Lok Sabha proceedings and the suspension of eight Members of Parliament for the remainder of the ongoing Budget session. (Source: IANS)
