Union Ministers Mourn Asha Bhosle, Say Her “Immortal Songs Will Resonate Forever”

Leaders including Piyush Goyal, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Hardeep Singh Puri pay tribute to the legendary singer, calling her voice a timeless emotional legacy that shaped generations of Indian music.

New Delhi– The death of legendary singer Asha Bhosle on Sunday has drawn widespread condolences from across the political spectrum, with Union Ministers describing her as a cultural icon whose music will continue to inspire generations.

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said Asha Bhosle represented the very essence of melodious singing, crediting her with elevating Indian music to new heights over several decades. He described her voice as more than a blend of notes, calling it an emotional bond that transcended words.

“Didi Asha Bhosle ji, the embodiment of sweet voice and unparalleled singing, elevated Indian music to new heights over decades,” Goyal said, adding that her songs would continue to resonate across generations.

He further noted that her passing marks an “irreplaceable loss” not only for her family but also for the world of art and millions of admirers.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also expressed grief, calling the news “extremely heartbreaking.” He highlighted that over an extraordinary career spanning more than eight decades, Bhosle recorded nearly 12,000 songs, bringing Indian music global recognition.

“Her immortal songs will forever resonate in our hearts,” Scindia said.

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri described her as one of the most prolific and versatile voices in Indian cinema, whose music captivated generations of listeners.

He noted that her vast repertoire spanned multiple genres and languages, including film music, pop, ghazals, bhajans, classical music, folk songs, qawwalis, as well as Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Geeti.

“Her melodious voice will continue to live in the hearts of legions of fans and admirers, and inspire upcoming singers and students of music,” Puri said.
