The Adani Group Chairman pays tribute to the legendary singer, quoting “Abhi Na Jaao Chhodkar” as he remembers her eternal legacy that will continue to echo across generations.

Ahmedabad– Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Sunday expressed deep grief over the passing of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, saying that India’s heart was never ready to let her go and that her music will remain eternal for generations.

Taking to X, Adani quoted the iconic song “Abhi Na Jaao Chhodkar” from the 1961 film Hum Dono to capture the nation’s sense of loss.

“India’s heart was never ready to let Asha ji go. She leaves behind an immortal legacy that will echo across homes, memories and generations. Rest in peace, Asha ji. Your melody is eternal,” he wrote.

Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92 in Mumbai on Sunday after being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday evening. Her last rites are scheduled to be held at Shivaji Park on Monday at 4 p.m., as confirmed by Maharashtra Culture Minister Ashish Shelar.

Her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, had earlier informed that the singer was hospitalised due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection, requesting privacy for the family during the time.

One of the most celebrated voices in Indian music history, Asha Bhosle began her playback career with the 1943 Marathi film Majha Bal. Over a career spanning more than eight decades, she delivered countless classics including Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani, and Yeh Ladka Hai Allah.

She recorded nearly 12,000 songs in around 20 languages and collaborated with legendary composers such as Shankar-Jaikishan, R.D. Burman, O.P. Nayyar, Ilaiyaraaja, Bappi Lahiri, and A.R. Rahman.

Honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008, Bhosle leaves behind an unmatched musical legacy that continues to define generations of Indian music lovers. (Source: IANS)
