Three-Day SAATH Fest to Feature 10 Plays, Panel Discussion, and Excellence in Theater Award at Mosesian Center, Watertown

WATERTOWN, MA — The South Asian-American Theater Festival (SAATH Fest)—New England’s premier celebration of South Asian performing arts—returns for its fourth year this weekend, bringing a dynamic lineup of multilingual plays, panel discussions, and special programming to the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown from November 21–23, 2025.

Organized annually by the Boston-based theater support group Off-Kendrik, SAATH Fest has become a major platform for elevating South Asian-American voices and promoting cross-cultural collaboration in New England’s performing arts scene. Additional information is available at SaathFest.com.

This year’s festival will feature 10 plays across three days, representing a range of South Asian languages and diasporic experiences—including English, Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali works. With two plays on Friday, four on Saturday, and four on Sunday, the festival continues its tradition of highlighting the artistic diversity and linguistic richness of South Asian-American theater.

2025 Spotlight Theme: Women in Theater

The 2025 festival places a strong focus on Women in Theater, celebrating their leadership, creativity, and impact within the South Asian and broader American arts landscape.

The opening night, Friday, Nov. 21, begins at 6:45 p.m. with a special inauguration followed by a 45-minute panel discussion featuring a South Asian playwright, director, and social activist. The panel will examine achievements and challenges for women in theater—addressing representation, barriers, opportunities, and the rising influence of women creatives across the diaspora.

Immediately afterward, SAATH Fest will present its Excellence in Theater Award, recognizing outstanding contributions to South Asian-American performing arts.

The evening will continue with two special productions directed by leading women directors from New England:

  • 7:45–8:15 p.m. — White Linen Red Dot (Multilingual)

  • 8:30–9:30 p.m. — Not So Black and White (Hindi/English)

Festival organizers note that the opening night’s focus on women—through the panel, award, and debut performances—holds “special meaning for the South Asian creative community and its growing presence in New England arts journalism.”
