MUMBAI– Renowned playback singer Tulsi Kumar has released her latest single, Maa, a deeply moving tribute that captures the pure and selfless love shared between mothers and daughters. The song, composed by Payal Dev and penned by lyricist Manoj Muntashir Shukla, is now streaming across digital platforms and on T-Series’ YouTube channel.
The music video, directed by Ranju Varghese, stars veteran actress Zarina Wahab alongside Tulsi Kumar. Wahab was reportedly moved to tears while filming several emotionally charged scenes. Kumar, herself a mother, delivers a performance filled with heartfelt vulnerability and elegance, accentuated by expressive choreography that mirrors the silent depth of maternal love.
“This song is very close to my heart. It came from a deeply emotional place,” Tulsi said. “As a daughter and a mother, I felt every lyric. The choreography was something new for me—it was designed so that every word had to be expressed through movement. Even while performing it, I felt like I was expressing everything I couldn’t say out loud.”
The choreography, crafted with a childlike softness and grace, visually translates the tender emotions that bind mothers and daughters, adding another layer of poignancy to the track.
Maa follows Tulsi Kumar’s recent romantic single Bheegne De, a collaboration with composer Manan Bhardwaj. That track explored themes of love and emotional vulnerability and featured Nikki Tamboli and Arbaz Patel.
With Maa, Tulsi Kumar continues to deepen her artistic repertoire, this time channeling profound gratitude and love through a mother’s lens. (Source: IANS)
