Trump warns of catastrophic consequences as U.S.-Iran tensions escalate

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump issued a stark warning Tuesday about the rapidly intensifying confrontation with Iran, saying the world could be on the brink of a devastating turning point and suggesting the possibility of sweeping political change in Tehran.
In a post on his social media platform, Trump described the situation in dire terms, raising the prospect of imminent destruction while also hinting at a dramatic shift in Iran’s leadership.
“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” he wrote.
Trump also suggested that recent developments could lead to what he characterized as a fundamental transformation within Iran’s government.
“However, now that we have complete and total regime change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, who knows?” he said.
His comments come as tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated sharply in recent days, with military activity expanding and diplomatic efforts appearing to stall.
Framing the moment as historically significant, Trump added: “We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World.”
He also criticized Iran’s leadership since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, saying, “47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end.”
Trump concluded his message with a direct appeal to the Iranian people, writing, “God Bless the Great People of Iran!”
The remarks follow a series of developments, including U.S. military strikes on targets linked to Iran and increased pressure on Tehran over its control of key regional waterways and infrastructure.
U.S. officials have indicated that further escalation remains possible if Iran does not meet American demands, particularly regarding the security of global energy supply routes.
Iran has responded with defiance, warning that any additional U.S. actions would be met with retaliation against American interests and assets across the region. (Source: IANS)
