Mumbai– Punjabi musician Wazir Patar, known for shaping some of the most defining sounds in contemporary Punjabi music, has released his debut EP and accompanying mini-documentary, WZR TANK.

Patar has collaborated with some of the industry’s biggest names, including the late Sidhu Moose Wala, producing several tracks such as The Last Ride — the final song Moose Wala recorded before his passing. He also composed the soundtrack for the Netflix series Kohrra. Renowned for blending Punjabi folk traditions with heavy, modern beats, Patar has built a reputation as a sonic architect of Punjab’s evolving sound.

“In music, I take pieces of the past — sounds from my culture, instruments from my roots — and work them into something new without losing their soul,” Patar explained.

With WZR TANK, he pairs music with a visual statement. The project documents the year-long restoration of a 1990 Mercedes W124 E300 Turbo Diesel, rebuilt from the ground up with parts sourced from around the world. For Patar, the car is more than a machine — it’s a metaphor for his creative process: preserving heritage and soul while crafting something entirely new.

“This car was the same. It had a soul. I just had to bring it back,” he said. “We spent everything on our dreams — shonk, cars — starting a different trend in East Punjab that had never been done before, at least not with this kind of precision for a car.”

The EP’s tracks mirror this journey. The title track, WZR TANK, is about forging your own path, embracing self-direction, and refusing to be steered by others. AMG celebrates the power and presence of the machine itself.

For Patar, the project is both an artistic statement and a declaration that Punjab can set global trends. “It’s about showing the world that our vision can match anyone’s — in music, in style, in culture,” he said.

WZR TANK is now available on streaming platforms, with the documentary slated for release in the coming days. (Source: IANS)
