LEXINGTON, MA—The second annual TriNetra, the Third Eye Festival of Dance is set for Nov. 18-19 at the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum in Lexington, MA. Jayshree Bala Rajamani, founder of Bharathakalai School of Dance, is the organizer of the event. Six local dancers and one guest artist from India will perform this year.
“It has been a dream of mine to have a festival where dancers, local dancers who devote so much of their talent and art for the good of the community at large, get a venue to perform without having to shell out a ton of money to perform,” said Rajamani. “The idea of TriNethra is to be that stage, so to speak, where the dancer can show case his/her art and propagate a renewed love of dance and of our local dancers. The hope is to also offer payment to our dancers as well.”
The TriNetra dance festival was started last year with famed dancer Rama Vaidyanathan inuagurating the festival. The festival is funded entirely by ticket sales and is spread over two evenings. Tickets: Grand Sponsor: $200.00 (two tickets per night); Festival Pass: $60.00 (single entry for both nights in main seating); Main Seating: $45.00; and Balcony Seating: $20.00.
“This year we have a total of 6 local dancers and one guest artiste from India. On the first night we have Kuchipudi performed by Rhode Island based Prafulla Velury, and a collaborative work between local baharathanatfam dancers Suman Adisesh, Janani Swamy, Meena Subramanyam and myself,” Rajamani said. “On the second night we have Odissi by Newton-based Shamoyita Mukherjee and a Bharathanataym solo production by Chennai based Roja Kannan.”

November 18th, Friday:
ACT 1: 7:00pm – Kuchipudi by Prafulla Velury
ACT 2: 8:00pm – “Arupadai – the abodes of Lord Muruga” an original thematic production conceived, choreographed and presented by Suman Adisesh, Jayshree Bala Rajamani, Meena Subramanyam and Janani Swamy
November 19th, Saturday:
ACT 1: 6:30pm – Odissi by Shamoyita Mukherjee
ACT 2: 7:30pm – “Thyaga Rahasyam – The Search for the Blue Lotus” an original solo production by famed Chennai based Bharathanatyam dancer Roja Kannan.
Rajamani, organizer of the festival is a classical Indian dancer and founder and artistic director of Lexington-based Bharathakalai School of Dance.
