Afsana Khan Faces Online Backlash After Attending Ganpati Celebrations at Kapil Sharma’s Home

Mumbai — Punjabi singer and former “Bigg Boss 15” contestant Afsana Khan faced criticism from some social media users after attending Ganpati celebrations at comedian Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath’s home.
Khan shared photos from the celebration on social media, including one showing her and her husband, singer and music producer Saajz, whose real name is Sajan Sharma, posing with Sharma and Chatrath near a decorated idol of Lord Ganesha.
Khan wrote that she celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi at “Kapil Paji and Ginni Bhabhi’s house” and described the gathering as filled with “lots of love, happiness and lots of fun.” She also said she was happy to see Ganpati Bappa at singer Mika Singh’s home.
While many users responded positively to the photos, others criticized Khan, who is Muslim, for participating in Hindu religious festivities.
Some commenters accused her of acting against her faith, while others defended the singer and urged people to stop attacking her over her participation in the celebrations.
It is not the first time Khan has faced similar criticism online. In August, during the Hindu holy month of Shravan, she shared photos and videos of herself and Saajz performing Rudrabhishek of a Shivling.
She accompanied the post with the message, “Meri taqat mera Mahadev hai,” meaning, “My strength is my Mahadev.” The post drew both praise and criticism, including comments questioning her participation in Hindu traditions.
Khan began her singing career with “Voice of Punjab” Season 3 in 2012 and later appeared on the first season of “Rising Star.”
She gained wider recognition through songs including “Dhakka,” “Jaani Ve Jaani” and “Titliaan Warga,” which became a major hit in 2020.
Khan later appeared on the reality television show “Bigg Boss 15” in 2021. (Source: IANS)
