Indian Golf Stars, Rising Talent Set for Singapore Open Showdown

SINGAPORE — A mix of seasoned Indian golf stars and emerging talent from the Indian Golf Premier League will compete against Asia’s top players at the Singapore Open, part of the International Series on the Asian Tour.
The $2 million tournament, held at the Serapong course at Sentosa Golf Club, is the second event in the LIV-backed International Series this year, following the opening stop in Japan last month.
India’s seven-player contingent includes five golfers who have posted strong results on the IGPL Tour over the past eight months. Among them are Pukhraj Singh Gill, the 2025 IGPL Order of Merit winner, and Sachin Baisoya, who recently claimed victory at the IGPL Invitational Mauritius hosted by Leander Paes.
Karandeep Kochhar, who won on the ADT Tour in Egypt in 2025 and captured the AM Green IGPL Invitational Dubai title in December, is also in the field.
Leading the group is Gaganjeet Bhullar, widely regarded as one of India’s most accomplished golfers. The 37-year-old has 11 Asian Tour victories, placing him third on the tour’s all-time wins list.
Jeev Milkha Singh, often considered India’s greatest professional golfer, will also compete. He owns six Asian Tour titles, four Japan Tour wins, and four DP World Tour victories. Singh previously won the Singapore Open in 2008 at Sentosa and recently ended a long title drought with a win at the AM Green IGPL Invitational Colombo in December.
The Indian lineup also features SSP Chawrasia, a six-time Asian Tour winner and two-time Indian Open champion, whose victories include four events co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour.
Shiv Kapur, the 2005 Asian Tour Rookie of the Year, rounds out the experienced group. He has four wins in Asia and, like Singh and Bhullar, has competed in golf’s major championships.
The 2026 IGPL season is already underway, with three events completed so far. Bhullar won the opening event in Chandigarh, followed by Baisoya’s victory in Mauritius and Udayan Mane’s win in Johannesburg, South Africa. (Source: IANS)
