Style evolves with experimentation, says Yami Gautam

Mumbai– Actress Yami Gautam says there were times when she ended up making fashion mistakes, but she feels one’s sensibility evolves with more experimentation with style.

“In current times, there is no dearth of fashion experts, stylists and clothing brands, but when it comes to fashion the only thing that matters is the comfort factor,” Yami told IANS via email.

“One should know their body type well to experiment with trends. When I look back at my past mistakes, I realise that there were times when I wasn’t myself and that’s why certain styles did not work well for me. It’s a learning process, and by experimenting with your style, one keeps evolving it,” she added.

The “Vicky Donor” actress walked the ramp here for KALKI, a Mumbai-based fashion house on the final day of Bombay Times Fashion Week 2018 on Sunday.

The brand unveiled its exclusive runway collection Spring-Summer 2018. The fashion show saw the presence of small screen celebrities like Pankhuri Awasthy, Pooja Bannerjee, Tanaz Irani, Tanya Sharma and Mrunal Thakur.

On her favourite fashion trends, Yami said she loves feminine soft shades for the summer season.

“I like pastels and bright hues too. I like summer dresses and tank tops. I think they never go out of style. As much as I’m happy with western wear for red carpet and social dos, I also like Indian ethnic wear for special occasions. I am very fond of sports wear and I shop for it online most of the time since I’m always on the move,” she said.

What are the must-haves in her daily beauty regime?

“When I leave my home, I make sure I have a lip-balm, hand sanitiser and some face tissues in my bag,” she said.

Kapil Sharma turns 37, hopes to keep reinventing work

New Delhi– Kapil Sharma has seen a lot of ups and downs in his professional and personal life. But the actor-comedian, who turned 37 on Monday, says he hopes to have a long innings in the industry and he will make it happen by reinventing different films and shows.

Kapil is making headlines for his comeback show “Family Time With Kapil”.

Asked where he sees himself after five years, Kapil told IANS: “After five years, I will be sitting here and talking to you about my next venture.”

“I just wish I get new ideas and ways to entertain people. One tends to get bored if one keeps on doing the same thing. I will keep on coming out with some different show or different film.”

Kapil became everyone’s favourite with his comical gigs with “Comedy Nights with Kapil”, but the good run ended after a violent fight with co-actor Sunil Grover on a flight made headlines.

What ensued was talk about his drinking habits, about his newly acquired high-handedness and making his guests wait for long hours — all leading to bad PR and TRPs for his second show “The Kapil Sharma Show”. It went off the air with a promise to be back soon.

“Family Time With Kapil”, which premiered last month, is also getting mixed reviews, with some saying that the gigs are redundant while some are appreciating Kapil’s endeavour.

The actor says he is not ashamed of his shortcomings, like not being well-versed with English.

“When you are a public figure, everything about your personality comes out in the open. So why shame?”

Kapil spoke about his career with IANS when he was here to promote his film “Firangi”.

Ranveer won’t perform at IPL opener due to injury

Mumbai– Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, who was scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony of the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, won’t shake a leg at the event to avoid aggravating a shoulder injury.

Ranveer Singh

Ranveer had injured his shoulder during a football match. He has been strictly advised by doctors to avoid performing at the cricket tournament’s opening ceremony on April 7.

“After multiple medical checkups, the doctors have strongly advised Ranveer Singh not to perform at this year’s IPL opening ceremony in which he was doing the grand finale act. They feel his high-energy performance would only overstrain his shoulder and aggravate the injury,” the actor’s spokesperson said in a statement.

However, Ranveer’s film shoot has not been disrupted.

“Ranveer will continue to shoot for ‘Gully Boy’ as per its shooting schedule which is not physically strenuous since only performance-based talkie scenes are left to be shot,” the spokesperson added.

Tiger took to Twitter to thank his fans for the support for him and the team, via a video.

In the video, he said: “Hi everyone, I just wanted to thank you all for all the love and support you’ve given me and the whole team of ‘Baaghi 2’… I can’t thank you enough. It just feels so surreal and I feel like I’m still dreaming because this was really something that I could never even dream of in my wildest dreams or even dare to dream of.”

He said he was “speechless”, but went on to express gratitude to fans, friends and family for “just showing all of your love”.

I love political satires: Rajeev Nigam

New Delhi– Actor Rajeev Nigam says he loves political satires, and that was his first attraction towards TV show “Har Shaakh Pe Ullu Baithaa Hai”.

Aired on Star Plus, the show is about a corrupt and funny politician in his madcap world. Rajeev plays the politician.

“I love political satires. I have always written about the political situation in our country,” Rajeev told IANS.

“The second thing that attracted me to the show is that this is a show that represents the common man of our nation. Whatever we portray on the show, in each episode, we speak the mind of the public.

“The public usually thinks about how a few politicians are busy lining their own wallets, how they fool us, how they rule and control us…These things are spoken about on the show, which ultimately convinced me into doing the show,” he added.

Rajeev, who has been seen in several comedy reality entertainers on television, says there is no pressure of being the lead actor on the show.

“It is important to portray the content in the right way. All my co-actors have their own responsibilities and their characters to play on-screen. All of us try very hard in our individual way to justify the script of the show, so there is no pressure on me particularly as such,” he added.

Banita hired Hindi tutor for ‘October’

How did she master the language barrier?

Banita said in a statement: “The film was offered to me a year before it was shot. So I hired a Hindi tutor. I was learning the language along with my university classes. Learning a language like Hindi when you live in London and people around you speak in English, it is very hard to pick it up.”

The actress shared this problem with the director, who helped her improve her diction further by training her through video calls.

According to her, the accent was the key aspect and she wanted to learn the Indian accent which Sircar helped her to attain.

On Indian cinema, she said that language is no longer a barrier and with Hindi cinema if the content is good, the movie will be watched.

“It is another world where we can open our eyes to,” she said.

Banita said she has watched the movie and is proud of the way it has come out.

“I am really looking forward for all the British audience as well to watch it. It is an international film and a beautiful piece of art.”

“October”, which also stars Varun Dhawan, is set to release on April 13.

Everything has a time: Rannvijay on reality shows

The growth of reality shows is a “lot”, said Rannvijay, who shot to popularity as the winner of “Roadies” and then hosted multiple editions of the show.

“I think everything has a time. But I feel fiction will come back again,” he said, adding that people watch fiction because they like to relate themselves with the situations they show.

“People have started to watch a lot of fiction web series and before this, people were very much into reality shows because it is human tendency to see what other people are going through and they feel good or bad as you are invested in people who you are watching,” he added.  (IANS)
