Big B’s letter leaves ‘Badhaai Ho’ director speechless
Mumbai– Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya Bachchan sent a hand-written note to filmmaker Amit Sharma, whose family drama “Badhaai Ho” recently bagged two National Film Awards.
“Amit, Badhai Ho… Badhai Ho… Badhai Ho,” the letter read.
After receiving the letter, Sharma took to social media to thank the “Pink” actor.
“Amitji, your letter is like an award for me. Thank you and thank you Jaya aunty,” Amit wrote on Instagram along with a shot of the letter.
According to the director, Big B’s gesture will motivate him to work even harder.
“I have always been a huge fan of Bachchan Saab and when I received flowers from him once again, I was completely speechless. I still don’t know how to thank him. Such gestures motivate me to work even harder and earn my next bouquet and letter from him,” he added.
“Badhaai Ho” won National Film Awards in the categories — Best Popular Film Award and Best Supporting Actress (Surekha Sikri).
‘Section 375’ a life-changing experience: Meera Chopra
Mumbai– Actress Meera Chopra, who is gearing up for the release of “Section 375”, says it was challenging to play a rape victim in the forthcoming film.
“‘Section 375’ was a life-changing experience for me and for my career. Playing this character was very traumatic and difficult for me in the beginning, and once the filming was over, it took me some time to get out of it.
“Shooting for this role really broke my heart to even imagine what real rape victims go through, I hope this movie gives strength to women to fight for justice”, Meera said.
“Section 375” is based on Section 375 of the Indian Penal Code. In the film, Richa Chadha plays a public prosecutor fighting to get justice for her client, who claims she was raped by a filmmaker (played by Rahul Bhatt), being defended by Akshaye Khanna’s character in court.
The courtroom drama will release on September 13.
‘Ramta jogi’ takes me back to extravaganza of ‘Taal’: Anil
Mumbai– As “Taal” completed two decades of its release in Bollywood, actor Anil Kapoor says the track “Ramta jogi” takes him back to the “unforgettable music and the extravaganza” of the movie.
Directed by Subhash Ghai, the film was released on August 13, 1999. It also featured Akshay Khanna and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Anil tweeted: “Even after all these years, ‘Ramta jogi’ takes me right back to the unforgettable music and the extravaganza of ‘Taal’! Subhash Ghai. A.R. Rahman, Aishwarya Rai, Akshaye Khanna. 20 years of ‘Taal’.”
“Taal” was premiered at the Chicago International Film Festival, the “official selection” at the 2005 Ebertfest: Roger Ebert’s Film Festival, and the 45th International Film Festival of India in the Celebrating Dance in Indian cinema section.
Currently, Anil has two films on his platter — “Pagalpanti” and “Malang”.
I’m a foodie like my on-screen character Tara: Roshni Walia
Mumbai– Teenager actress Roshni Walia will be seen essaying the lead role in the upcoming daily soap “Tara From Satara.” The story revolves around Tara, a schoolgirl from the small town of Satara who is passionate about the Bollywood style of dancing, but faces resistance from her father who is a Kathak dancer.
“Tara is a happy-go-lucky and fun-loving girl. She speaks her heart and lives her life to the fullest. She does not like to study and is passionate about dance. She is trying to find a purpose in life, even though her father feels she isn’t good for anything. In her journey, Tara receives love and support from her best friend and her entire family, except her father,” Roshni described her character.
“Tara loves to eat and in real life I am a foodie, too. So, apart from the love for dance, we have the love for food in common,” she added.
The 17-year-old actress said preparation for the character involved a lot of dancing. “I have been practising dance a lot and undergoing workshops. Before the shoot started, I went to Satara and interacted with the people there to understand their lifestyle and get a hang of their accent. I had a great time there,” said Roshni, adding: “I am happy about the fact that the story centres around dance. In real life, I sometimes lock myself in a room and dance my heart out. Dance is something that relaxes me and makes me happy. My character in the show does the same thing and hence I am enjoying shooting for it.”
When Akshaye suggested an early lunch break for Richa
Mumbai– Actress Richa Chadha, who is gearing up for the release of “Section 375”, has said that she was so carried away essaying her character on the set of the film that she broke down, and director Ajay Bahl and co-star Akshaye suggested an early lunch break for her to come to terms with her emotions.
Richa was interacting with the media at the trailer launch of “Section 375” along with co-actors Akshaye Khanna, Rahul Bhatt, Meera Chopra, director Ajay Bahl, and producer Kumar Mangat Pathak on Tuesday in Mumbai.
“Section 375” is based on Section 375 of the Indian Penal Code. In the film, Richa plays a public prosecutor fighting to get justice for her client who claims she has been raped by a filmmaker Rahul Bhatt), being defended by a lawyer played by Akshaye, who accuses the victim of misusing Section 375 to falsely implicate his client. The film also explores the theme of whether a lawyer should defend a criminal or listen to his conscience.
Swachh Bharat makes Kangana Ranaut feel good
New Delhi– Actress Kangana Ranaut says it feels good to see people keeping their surroundings clean, and has also urged others to follow suit.
In a new ad of Swachh Bharat Mission, Kangana, dressed in a sari, says it feels good when people look around for a dustbin to throw garbage, when they bend down to pick up trash and when people stop others from dirtying their surroundings.
She also urged others to not throw waste around here and there and be part of the cleanliness drive.
Her manager and sister also tweeted and wrote: “Kangana for #swachbharatabhiyan! #SwachhSurvekshan2020.”
To accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put focus on sanitation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on October 2, 2014.
‘Kaminey’ would’ve been a bigger hit today: Chandan Roy Sanyal
Mumbai– As Vishal Bhardwaj’s popular film “Kaminey: The Scoundrels” completed a decade of its release on Wednesday, actor Chandan Roy Sanyal took a journey down the memory lane, recalling the situation during the films release and said the film would have been a bigger hit today.
“It still gives me goosebumps. Today morning I woke up and suddenly realised that it is August 14 and it has been 10 years of �Kaminey’. Dramatically, there were two things which happened on this day 10 years back. Swine flu had broken out in Maharashtra and the release of the film was affected because a lot of people were advised by the government not to go to public places as they might contract the disease,” Chandan told IANS.
He added: “That was a deterrent to the release of �Kaminey’ even though the music of the film was doing well.”
The actor, who played the character of Mikhail in the action drama film, said that he suffered from a spondylitis attack the night before the film’s release.
“I remember watching a review at Honey Trehan’s house, who was the casting director of the film and got me on the project. Everybody was congratulating me for the film. When I went back home in the morning, I woke up to excruciating pain on my left hand and I just couldn’t function,” he said. (IANS)
