Sunny Leone to perform in Bahrain for 1st time

Mumbai–Actress Sunny Leone has announced that she will be performing in Bahrain for the first time in April.

“I have an exciting news. For the first time ever, I will be performing in Bahrain on April 27 for the anniversary of Aura Arts Centre,” Sunny tweeted on Saturday.

“This show is coordinated by Dadu Oshma and directed by Manoj Mayyannour. Hope to see you’ll there at Indian School Grounds, Bahrain,” she added.

In December last year, Sunny was forced to cancel her New Year bash in Bengaluru after the police denied permission to the organisers.

Sunny was last seen onscreen in 2017 musical romantic film “Tera Intezaar” alongside Arbaaz Khan.


Censor Board allows Amartya Sen documentary barring reference to ‘Gujarat’

Kolkata–Filmmaker Suman Ghosh whose documentary on Nobel laureate Amartya Sen was previously red flagged by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), on Friday said the board has now allowed the film to be released without any modification to the previously objected words, except a reference to “Gujarat”.

“The Argumentative Indian”, originally scheduled for a July 14 release, was refused the green signal by the Indian censor board over the use of the words “cow”, “Gujarat”, “Hindu India” and “Hindutva”, by Sen in the film.

“I have received the letter from the CBFC today. The board has removed the cuts it previously wanted except the word Gujarat,” Ghosh told IANS here.

“I also had a very positive conversation with CBFC chairman Prasoon Joshi,” he added.

The director who previously refused to abide by the censor board’s suggestion to mute those four words in the film and hinted he might release the film online, said he has not taken any decision on whether he would go ahead with the word in the film or drop it.

“I have just received the letter today. So nothing has been decided yet. I will shortly take a decision on the film’s release,” he added.

The hour-long documentary, structured as a free flowing conversation between Sen and his student and Cornell economics professor Kaushik Basu, shot in two parts in 2002 and 2017 and has Sen talking about the social choice theory, development economics, philosophy and the rise of right-wing nationalism across the world, including India.

Rajnikanth and Kamal Haasan appear together at a function in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur–Amidst much excitement over their political entry, Tamil superstars Rajnikanth and Kamal Haasan on Satuday appeared together on a public platform here.

The two arrived at a stadium here in a helicopter and drove together in a golf cart for some distance. They shook hands and then acknowledged the cheers from their fans gathered at the stadium.

They were here to participate in a film stars event for raising funds for South Indian Actors Association.

Both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have announced their entry into Tamil Nadu politics that has created a flutter in the state’s politics.

More people should support hearing-impaired children: Poonam Pandey

Mumbai–Actress Poonam Pandey on Saturday called for more people to know about and support hearing-impaired children.

Present along with actor Ali Asgar, and actor-producer Kunickaa Sadanand at “Lean an ear, hear the future” competition organized by JOSH foundation, Poonam, talking about being associated with the venture, said: “This is a big thing to be part of, I feel honoured to be here. I will make sure that I will promote JOSH foundation as much as I can. It is a great cause and everyone should support these kids.

“They are brilliant kids and more people should know about them.”

‘Lean an ear, hear the future’ is an interschool dance competition which was held here on Saturday. Organized by JOSH foundation, the competition showcased the impressive result of the hard working hearing impaired children from Mumbai.

Asked about her upcoming projects, Poonam said: “I just finished a film but I don’t want to talk about it here. These kids deserve our attention. I really enjoyed the performances.”

Poonam was last seen in a cameo in “Aa Gaya Hero” starring Govinda.

SRK is a very inspiring parent: Karan Johar

Mumbai–Filmmaker Karan Johar says his very good friend and superstar Shah Rukh Khan is a very inspiring parent.

“Shah Rukh is amazing. He’s such an hands on parent and a very inspiring parent to me,” Karan, who became a father of twins via surrogacy, said here on Friday.

Shah Rukh, who is married to producer-entrepreneur Gauri Khan, has three children — sons Aryan and AbRam and daughter Suhana.

Karan will next be seen in the upcoming reality show “India’s Next Superstars”. He will be co-judging it with director Rohit Shetty.

The “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” filmmaker praised Rohit saying that he is leads the pack when it comes to entertainers in Bollywood.

“Just in general entertainment he leads the pack. His every film has performed non-stop. He’s given 10 back to back blockbusters. If there are two directors in the country is one is S.S. Rajamouli and other is Rohit,” Karan said.

“They have a non-stop entertainment package. They promise you entertainment from the time you sit till the time you end,” he added.

Asked how does he take the compliment, Rohit said: “I’m happy that Karan is praising me. I’m top of the world.”
