Sanjay Dutt biopic 60 per cent complete, says Ranbir Kapoor
Mumbai–Actor Ranbir Kapoor, who will be seen essaying the role of Sanjay Dutt in a biopic on the thespian, says more than half the project is complete.
Ranbir, who was spotted at the red carpet of the fourth edition of Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year 2017 Awards on Tuesday, was sporting a different look.
He said: “As you can see, I’m in the look of Sanjay Dutt and the movie is 60 per cent complete and soon it will get over.”
“It feels very proud that I’m doing the Sanjay Dutt biopic and I’m very thankful to Vinod sir (Vidhu Vinod Chopra) and Sanjay sir specially,” added Ranbir.
Women’s health an issue close to my heart: Raveena Tandon
Mumbai–Actress Raveena Tandon, also a social activist, has lent support to a She’s Ambassador campaign, aimed at empowering young girls to make decisions favourable to healthy lifestyles and social development. She says it’s an issue she cares about whole-heartedly.
The initiative is a joint effort by PVR Nest and Mumbai Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society (MOGS).
Raveena, who also features in a film for the campaign, said in a statement: “She’s Ambassador is a CSR (corporate social responsibility) campaign to create awareness among young girls in the country, as these girls face many issues with regard to their health when they reach puberty.
“It is very important to educate them to deal on issues related to their health, sanitation, nutrition and mental well-being. I am very grateful to PVR Nest for giving me this opportunity to be part of a campaign of this nature which is very close to my heart.”
The year-long campaign enables school girls to become ‘health champions’ for their peers and the community. It hopes to sensitise 10,000 school children in 50 schools through 100 workshops.
She said the campaign is a “step in the right direction”.
The initiative will also give an opportunity to the participating children from schools to create their own films on the five thematic areas, after filmmaking workshops. These will be screened across PVR Cinemas’ screens.
Nepotism not an objection, it’s an observation: Kangana Ranaut
Mumbai–Actress Kangana Ranaut says there’s a “democratic environment” in the Hindi film industry is being fostered because of people like her who speak up on their “observation” on issues like nepotism.
The actress had earlier this year referred to filmmaker Karan Johar as a flag-bearer of nepotism, sparking a wide debate on the issue of how ‘outsiders’ find it tough to make their mark in the industry.
Her reference to nepotism in Bollywood also found a patron in filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who had introduced Kangana in “Gangster”. He called the film industry as an “insulator”.
Giving a rational explanation to her thoughts, Kangana, who walked the ramp here for Melange Lifestyle on Tuesday, said: “Such discussions are very important. Nepotism is not an objection, it is an observation.”
“As an individual, it is my prerogative to leave my footprints behind for the ones who will follow me and it’s important for them to know where I fell, where I walked, where I stayed and where I ran. So it’s important for me that I will talk about my own experiences — not to say that people should not do what they like to do, but to make what is relevant, relevant.”
The National Award winning actress affirmed that healthy talks like these should continue. She even stressed that “there is nothing called an outsider”.
Baahubali 2′ makers lock distributor for overseas market
Mumbai– The makers of “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” have locked Cinestaan AA Distributors to release the Hindi version of the cinematic spectacle in the US, Britain, Australia and New Zealand markets.
Cinestaan AA Distributors is a joint venture between Cinestaan Film Company and AA Films. Officials are delighted that the movie’s makers have reposed confidence in them and given them the opportunity to distribute this landmark film, read a statement.
Directed by S.S. Rajamouli and produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni, the much-awaited sequel to “Baahubali: The Beginning”, will have a worldwide release on April 28.
Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia, it is said to be the first Indian film to be released in 4K High Definition format, the statement read.
Taapsee Pannu begins ‘action’ for ‘Judwaa 2’
London–It’s ‘lights, camera, action’ time again for Taapsee Pannu, who has just delivered the action-packed film “Naam Shabana”. The actress has now started filming here for “Judwaa 2”.
She commenced shooting for the film, in which she is paired with actor Varun Dhawan, on Tuesday.
This film is even more special for the actress as it reunites her with her first director from Bollywood — David Dhawan — with whom she made her debut in 2013 with “Chashme Baddoor”.
Taapsee said in a statement: “Working with David sir again is an absolute delight. Doing the sequel to one of the most memorable films from the 1990s is something extremely exciting for me. Looking forward to working with Varun on this one.”
Varun has stepped into superstar Salman Khan’s shoes to play a double role in the remake of the 1997 film “Judwaa”. He has begun shooting with Taapsee, and Jacqueline Fernandez will be joining the set soon, read a statement.
Directed by David Dhawan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios, “Judwaa 2” is set to release on September 29.
