Karan Johar waiting to see ‘Waiting’
Mumbai–Filmmaker Karan Johar says he is eager to watch director Anu Menon’s debut release “Waiting”, starring Kalki Koechlin and Naseeruddin Shah.
“Waiting to see ‘Waiting’! I hear Naseer Saab and Kalki Koechlin are phenomenal! I believe it’s reflective and connective slice of life,” Karan tweeted on Sunday.
This is not the first time Kalki and Naseeruddin have worked together. They have earlier shared screen space in Anurag Kashyap’s “That Girl in Yellow Boots”, and in “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”. But they didn’t have any scenes together in the latter.
“Waiting” narrates the story of the characters of Kalki and Naseeruddin, who develop a bond when they meet in the waiting room of a hospital for their spouses to spring back to life from a state of coma.
“Waiting” also stars Rajat Kapoor and Suhasini Maniratnam.
Kunal Kohli finds Jennifer Winget’s talent ‘inspirational’
Director-actor Kunal Kohli wished his “Phir Se” co-star Jennifer Winget a Happy Birthday on Monday, saying he finds her “dignity and talent” inspiring.
Kunal, who has helmed movies including “Hum Tum”, “Fanaa” and “Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic”, took to Twitter to wish the actress.
“Happy Birthday Jennifer Winget. Your dignity and talent are inspirational,” Kunal tweeted.
Ali Fazal gets sketching lessons from Nana Patekar
Actor Ali Fazal has added another skill to his pool of talent! This time, it is sketching, which he learnt from senior actor Nana Patekar.
Nana spends his time between the shots to make sketches of people on the sets and of landscapes that he sees around him. He shared tips with Ali and taught him some skills to be a good sketcher.
“Nana sir is some sort of an Einstein in the world of cinema. And such a great artist. We had a sweet jam session on paper, sketching away. Yes I took some great tips. There is so much to learn from him. I keep digging for more. I think I pester him a lot,” said Ali.
Home for 10 days, Priyanka Chopra to decide on next Hindi films
Mumbai–Actress Priyanka Chopra returned home for 10 days after wrapping up the shooting of her Hollywood film “Baywatch” and television series “Quantico” and may decide on her next Hindi film in this duration.
“The shooting of aBaywatch’ is done; all have packed-up. The film is completed and will release in May next year. The shooting of ‘Quantico’ season 1 is completed. I have come home for 10 days and will go for ‘Quantico’ season 2 in July,” Priyanka at the airport after returning from the US.
She was accompanied by her “Quantico” co-star Yasmine Al Masri.
Priyanka has been in the US for the past 10 m onths shooting for her international projects. While she plays FBI agent Alex Parrish in “Quantico”, she plays negative character Victoria Leeds in “Baywatch”.
Two big accomplishments that happened in Priyanka’s life in the meanwhile were featuring on the Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People and attending annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner hosted by US President Barack Obama.
Quizzed about her upcoming Hindi films, she replied: “Now that I have returned, I’ll decide what films I’ll do. I haven’t decided yet.”
Her last Hindi film “Jai Gangaajal” did decent business at the box-office and there are reports of Priyanka being part of both of her “Bajirao Mastani” director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s rumoured films – “Gustakhiyaan” and a period drama on Rani Padmavati.
Priyanka’s name has also come up for a film offered by Aditya Chopra, Boney Kapoor’s “Sikhni” and Abhinay Deo’s superwoman film, none of which have been confirmed.
Kay Kay Menon’s next based on Indian Emergency era
Mumbai–Actor Kay Kay Menon, who has portrayed a variety of characters in his over two decade-long journey in the Indian entertainment industry, will next be seen in “Sann Pachattar”, which will be based on the Emergency era in the country.
“The film is absolutely a visual and audio symphony. It is the first true political period thriller of Indian cinema. I am happy I am a part of this film and played the most layered and myriad character of my career till date,” Menon said in a statement.
“It took me nearly six months to get into the skin and psyche of the character and to get the crisis right,” he added.
“Sann Pachattar” will be directed by “Tamanchey” fame Navneet Behal.
“The Emergency period lasted from June 1975 to March 1977 and is one of the darkest period of Indian history. We learn true lessons of life only from history and I decided to make a film based on some unknown and uncovered events during the period of emergency,” Kabir Lovee, who is producing the film under his Pehle Aap Motion Pictures banner, said.
“It’s a fun film and is entertaining and stimulating at the same time. Its not preachy and heavy like most films have been on the supposed unfortunate event. It is a very well balanced film and will teleport you instantly to the 1970s. It’s sensible yet is entertaining and rambles us into a trip,” Lovee added.
