Aftab wants lessons on character building in educational institutions
Mumbai–Actor Aftab Shivdasani wants educational institutions to host sessions on character building.
“Education is a must for all. Schools, colleges impart knowledge about maths, science and business. I strongly believe there should be a 30-minute class daily that emphasises on formation of ‘character’,” Aftab, who was last seen in “Great Grand Masti”, tweeted on Monday.
“By theoretically and practically educating young developing minds, I think the future of any nation will be bright and not only move in a stable economical direction but also a moral and ethical direction as well,” he added.
Saqib Saleem works out in Jackky Bhagnani’s ‘swank’ gym
Actor Saqib Saleem is working hard on his physique at actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani’s gym.
Saqib tweeted a short video of himself working out.
He captioned it: “Get those shoulders burning! Monday motivation. By the way this swank gym space is Jackky Bhagnani’s… Waah Bhagnani sahab kya gym hai (Wow Bhagnani, what a gym!) Love it.”
Saqib was last seen on screen in Varun Dhawan-John Abraham-starrer “Dishoom”.
Taking up challenges gives Yami a high
Actress Yami Gautam, who is gearing up for the release of the forthcoming film “Sarkar 3”, says the film has given her an opportunity to showcase a very different side of her. She says taking up such challenges gives her a kick.
The 28-year-old actress made her Bollywood debut with filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s “Vicky Donor”, where she essayed a simple girl-next-door.
Earlier this year, she played a visually impaired girl in “Kaabil” and she is now gearing up for the release of “Sarkar 3”, where she will be seen playing a grey character.
“‘Sarkar 3’ gave me the opportunity to explore and showcase a very different side of me. That was the most exciting part. While ‘Kaabil’ was challenging in its own way as I played a visually impaired girl, ‘Sarkar 3’ had its own tests too. It gives me a different high to take up challenges for my characters,” Yami said in a statement.
Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, “Sarkar 3” features Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee, Jackie Shroff, Ronit Roy and Amit Sadh in pivotal roles.
Aishwarya Rai lauds Rouble Nagi for beautifying city
Mumbai– Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Monday inaugurated artist-social activist Rouble Nagi’s sculpture titled “The Paradise Garden” and thanked the activist for beautifying the city.
“We are thankful to Rouble as she is making your city more beautiful and as a Mumbaikar, I am too happy to join this ongoing movement to beautify our city and have art installations,” said Aishwarya.
“Art is not just for the exclusive section of society, it has to be enjoyed by all. In fact, art becomes artwork with increased audience’s appreciation,” she added.
The Paradise Garden sculpture is installed opposite Mehboob Studio, Bandra, and Aishwarya says that she has a special connection with the place. “This is a special place, as I have lived in Bandra till I got married and Mehboob Studio is the place where I have done lots of work.”
Poonam Mahajan, the MP from Mumbai North-Central, was also present at the inauguration ceremony.
Dangal mints over Rs 80 crore in China in opening weekend
Mumbai– “Dangal” has registered earnings of over Rs 80 crore in its opening weekend in China — and the makers are thrilled with the response.
An Aamir Khan Productions’ spokesperson told IANS: “The entire team of ‘Dangal’ is thrilled with the love and affection the film has got from audiences across China. The weekend box office number of Rs 81 crore surpasses the previous Indian film record in China which was held by ‘PK’.
“The team is also overwhelmed with the outpour of emotion on the public platforms and in the media for the film. We would like to thank our partners in China for their efforts in making ‘Dangal’ accessible to cinema lovers across China.”
With this, the movie is on its way to becoming Bollywood’s highest-earning film in China.
So far, “PK” is the only Indian movie to have crossed Rs 100 crore in China and it had done so in 16 days since its release.
Wasn’t that good in studies: Sooraj Pancholi
Mumbai–Actor Sooraj Pancholi who debuted with Salman Khan’s production ‘Hero’ says that he was not good enough in studies but was very good at sports.
“I have been into sports since my childhood. I wasn’t that good in studying but in sports I have always been ahead. Whether its football, sprinting, cricket or any other game. I feel sports is something that every child and youngster should participate in because at the end playing sport can support us in keeping our mind and body fit”. said Sooraj at the launch of the 1st edition of Super Soccer Tournament in Mumbai on Sunday.
Talking about the initiative, he said, “Super Soccer Tournament is actually a charitable cause. It is about children who play football but not fortunate to take this sport financially. Through this initiative, we are helping them in promoting younger children to play football and want them to play for our country because we have been playing lot of cricket everywhere. So it is our effort to promote football in the same manner”.
When asked about his upcoming movies, he said, “I have been preparing for it and we will start the shoot in coming few days”.
Sooraj Pancholi made his debut in “Hero” along with Athiya Shetty. Now, he will be seen in Farook Kabir’s tentatively titled “Hafiz”, which will go on the floors next month and he is also working in Remo D’Souza’s action-comedy film with Ajay Devgn.
Divya elated with first Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award
Critically acclaimed actress Divya Dutta has bagged a Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award for her role in “Chalk n Duster”.
Divya tweeted a photograph of herself while holding on to the trophy.
She captioned it: “And the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award for best actor in negative role for ‘Chalk n Duster’! Happyyyyy.”
“This is my first ever Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation award and that too for a negative role… It is just overwhelming,” she added in a statement.
Released in 2016, “Chalk n Duster” narrates the story of the commercialisation of the Indian private education system, the changing student-teacher relationship and issues faced by them.
Directed by Jayant Gilatar, the film also stars Juhi Chawla, Shabana Azmi, Zarina Wahab and Girish Karnad.
Pooja Bhatt on ‘double standards’
Actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, who is known for voicing her opinion without mincing words, has now spoken out about people’s “double standards”.
“While the world has no problems with an older man marrying a younger woman, they hurl stones when it is the other way around. Double standards,” Pooja tweeted on Monday.
Last year, Pooja went public about her drinking issues and the fact that she is on the road to recovery and has not touched alcohol since the last four months.
