Yo Yo Honey Singh Says He Created ‘Payal’ Beat in 2007 Before Using It in 2024

MUMBAI, India — Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh said the beat for his song “Payal,” featuring Nora Fatehi, was originally created in 2007 before being used in 2024.
Singh, whose real name is Hirdesh Singh, shared a video of an elderly man dancing to the track and said his music continues to connect across age groups.
“My beats makes generations move… M genius… Made this beat in 2007 at Rohini my guruji’s flat In finally used in 2024 (sic),” the rapper wrote in the caption.
Singh, 43, was born in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, and rose to prominence with his 2011 Punjabi album “International Villager.” The album’s song “Gabru,” featuring J-Star, became a major hit and topped Asian music charts, including the BBC Asian charts.
His collaborations with artists including Diljit Dosanjh on “Lak 28 Kudi” helped cement his place in the Punjabi and Indian pop music scene.
Singh later gained wider recognition with songs such as “Brown Rang,” “High Heels” and “Angreji Beat,” his collaboration with Gippy Grewal. His first Hindi song came in “Mastan.”
In 2024, Singh released the album “Glory,” which included 18 tracks such as “Millionaire,” “Rap God” and “Jatt Mehkma.” A documentary on his life and career, “Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous,” was released on Netflix in December 2024.
Earlier this month, Singh also shared that he was spending several days on a yacht, balancing fishing with music production. Posting a photo of himself holding a fishing rod on Instagram, he wrote, “Music sessions on yacht for few days now !! Fishing n Beatproducing #yoyohoneysingh.” (Source: IANS)
