Srinivas Sridhar of Northeastern University Shares Half Million Dollar Award

BOSTON–Srinivas Sridhar, Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor in the Department of Physics, and Thomas Webster, professor and department chair in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Art Zafiropoulo Chair in Engineering at Northeastern University, have been awarded $495,348 by the National Science Foundation for their project “NRTIGE: Nanomedicine Academy of Minority Serving Institutions.”

Sridhar and his colleagues received the National Science Foundation award in October, Northeastern University said this week.

In addition to serving as Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor of Physics at Northeastern University, Sridhar is a lecturer on Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School.

Sridhar is the Director and Principal Investigator of several multi-million dollar national programs: “Nanomedicine Science and Technology”, an IGERT (Integrative Graduate Education and Research Training) program funded by the National Cancer Institute and the National Science Foundation.

From 2004 to 2008, Sridhar served as Vice Provost for Research at Northeastern University, overseeing the University’s research portfolio. An elected Fellow of the American Physical Society, Sridhar’s current areas of research are nanomedicine and nanophotonics.
