New Delhi– As tensions escalate in the Middle East amid the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, prominent Muslim cleric Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi has commended the Indian government for its swift and decisive action in evacuating citizens from the conflict zone through ‘Operation Sindhu.’

Speaking to IANS from Bareilly, Maulana Razvi described the mission as a “victory for India” and a testament to the government’s dedication to the safety and welfare of its people.

“Many Indian students and pilgrims were stranded in Iran. Their families were overwhelmed with worry,” Razvi said. “The successful evacuation has brought tremendous relief. We must acknowledge and appreciate the government’s timely and effective response.”

In a separate and pointed statement, Razvi also criticized actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh for casting Pakistani actors, including Hania Aamir, in his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3. He questioned the decision, especially in light of ongoing tensions with Pakistan.

“Why couldn’t Diljit find Indian talent? Why offer roles to individuals from a country that shelters terrorists and has caused India such deep suffering?” Razvi asked, referring to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 Indian civilians and was reportedly orchestrated by Pakistan-based groups.

He argued that the film sends the wrong message at a time when national sentiment remains sensitive.

Razvi also invoked India’s military response in the form of ‘Operation Sindoor’, which targeted terrorist infrastructure within Pakistan. Citing this, he called for a nationwide boycott of Sardaar Ji 3, urging the government to ban the film and pursue legal action against Dosanjh and the Pakistani actors involved.

“This isn’t merely about a film—it’s about honoring our martyrs and upholding national dignity,” Razvi emphasized.

Sardaar Ji 3 is slated for release on June 27 and has already drawn criticism on social media due to the inclusion of Hania Aamir in the wake of the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.

India had previously enforced a ban on Pakistani actors and content across television, film, OTT platforms, and social media, citing national security concerns during the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. (Source: IANS)
