WATERTOWN, MA—TiE-Boston, the Boston chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs, known as TiE, on Thursday honored local business leaders and entrepreneurs for their contribution to the economy and their professional accomplishments at its annual gala held at Oakley Country Club in Watertown, MA.
Founded in 1997, TiE-Boston is the second biggest and oldest chapter with the TiE-Global, the largest not-for-profit organization fostering entrepreneurship, with a global network of members from 61 chapters in 18 countries.
TiE-Boston’s 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Sushil Tuli, president and CEO of Arlington, MA-based Leader Bank. With assets over $950 million, Leader Bank is a nationally chartered bank founded in 2002 with seven full- service branches in Arlington, Belmont, Burlington, Cambridge, and Boston’s Seaport Innovation District.
Harvard Business School Dean Nitin Nohria conducted a Q/A and a rapid fire chat with Tuli in front of the nearly 200 entrepreneurs and business and community leaders in the audience. Talking about the bank’s rapid and sustained growth, Tuli said: “You have to surround yourself with best people.”

Anuradha Yadav, executive director of TiE-Boston, provided an overview of TiE-Boston’s 2015 activities. She said that number of TiE-Boston charter members rose to 170 in 2015 from 144 last year and that the organization reported a positive cash flow. TiE-Boston has also attracted younger members and has become a much diversified organization, Yadav added. TiE-Boston’s Angel Investors group invested about $1.7 million dollars in local start-ups this year.
A live entertainment and music was provided by Berklee Indian Ensemble.
