Sripad Krishna Devalla Named CEO of Origin Medical as Company Prepares for Commercial Launch
AI-powered prenatal care technology company expands executive team and board leadership ahead of next growth phase
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Origin Medical has appointed co-founder Sripad Krishna Devalla as Chief Executive Officer, a leadership transition that comes as the company prepares for the commercial launch of its AI-powered ultrasound workflow platform designed to expand access to prenatal care.
The Cambridge-based healthcare technology company announced Monday that Devalla, who previously served as Chief Technology Officer, will succeed co-founder Jens Thang as CEO. Thang will transition to Chief Operating Officer, where he will oversee commercial execution, operational scaling, and market delivery as the company enters its next stage of growth.
The leadership changes are part of a broader expansion of Origin Medical’s executive team and governance structure as the company moves from product development toward commercialization.
“As we enter this next phase, our focus is on bringing AI into the core of prenatal care in a way that strengthens, not replaces, clinical expertise,” Devalla said. “We are building technology that fits naturally into the ultrasound workflow, helping clinicians manage day-to-day imaging with greater confidence while delivering consistent, high-quality care at scale.”
Devalla has played a central role in the development of Origin Medical’s technology platform, leading the company’s product strategy, platform architecture, and artificial intelligence roadmap since its founding. In his new role, he will focus on accelerating commercial growth, developing strategic partnerships, and expanding the company’s presence in domestic and international markets.
The transition marks a significant milestone for Origin Medical, which has spent recent years developing AI-driven solutions intended to improve ultrasound workflows and support clinicians providing prenatal care.
Thang, who has led the company as CEO since its inception, said the move reflects the company’s evolving priorities as it shifts toward market execution.
“This is a pivotal moment for the company, and I am stepping into the COO role to lead the execution required for our next phase of growth,” Thang said. “We have built an exceptional platform, a highly capable team, and a strong foundation. My focus now is to convert that foundation into market-ready execution — scaling responsibly, operating with discipline, and delivering on our commitment to clinicians, patients, and partners.”
To support its commercialization efforts, Origin Medical also announced several executive appointments focused on clinical adoption, regulatory strategy, customer deployment, and market expansion.
Dr. Jeroen P. Vanderhoeven has joined the company as Chief Medical Officer and will oversee clinical strategy and regulatory alignment. Dawn Finlay Noahubi, RDMS, has been named Vice President of Clinical Affairs and Applications, where she will lead clinical programs and provider adoption initiatives. Allan Bottemiller joins as Vice President of Enterprise Solutions, responsible for health system integration and customer success, while Matt Brand has been appointed Vice President of Marketing to direct go-to-market strategy and commercial alignment.
The company also strengthened its board of directors with the appointment of Chris Blackley, co-founder and CEO of Prescryptive Health. Blackley brings more than 20 years of experience in healthcare technology, cloud platforms, and health information policy.
In his board role, Blackley will advise Origin Medical on governance, enterprise commercialization, capital strategy, and the development of strategic relationships with health systems and payers.
The leadership expansion comes at a time when healthcare providers are increasingly exploring artificial intelligence tools to improve efficiency, workflow management, and access to care. Origin Medical is positioning its platform as a solution that enhances clinician decision-making and operational effectiveness while helping address growing demand for prenatal imaging services.
With a new CEO, expanded executive team, and strengthened board leadership, Origin Medical is preparing for what company leaders describe as a critical next chapter focused on commercial growth and broader adoption of AI-enabled prenatal care technologies.
