Madhuri Dixit Says Triptii Dimri, Dharna Durga Would Cause More Trouble in ‘Maa Behen’

NEW DELHI — Madhuri Dixit says her “Maa Behen” co-stars Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durga would be more likely than her to create chaos in the upcoming crime comedy.

Madhuri Dixit

In an interview with IANS, Dixit was asked who would cause the most “kaands,” or trouble, if the film were set in Delhi instead of Bhopal.

“I think they will have more kaands because they are from here. So I don’t know much about Delhi. So she has less to do,” Dixit said, referring to her character.

“Maa Behen,” which premieres June 4, follows Rekha, a mother whose life is upended when a dead body appears in her kitchen. She and her two daughters, Jaya, the responsible one, and Sushma, the unpredictable one, must cover up the situation while keeping suspicious neighbors away.

Dimri said all three central characters contribute equally to the chaos.

“All three of us have equally kaandi. Because all three of us are very strong characters. Whether it’s the mother, whether it’s the sister, or the older sister. It’s a very dysfunctional family,” she said.

“They get thrown into a difficult situation. What happens after that? How do they tackle it? That’s something that you’ll see in this film. But I think to answer your question, yeah. There’s no…” she added.

The film also stars Ravi Kishan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Arunoday Singh and Shardul Bhardwaj.

Janhvi Kapoor Says Filmmaking Is ‘An Act of Service’

NEW DELHI — Janhvi Kapoor says filmmaking is ultimately “an act of service” for audiences, adding that public opinion can help artists improve their work.

Janhvi Kapoor

Kapoor, who is preparing for the release of her Telugu film “Peddi,” spoke to IANS about social media users judging films before watching them. She said honest work made with good intentions will find its audience.

“I think if a film, if it’s made with honesty and if it’s made with hard work and a good intention, then it reaches the people that it has to. And I know that people are quick to judge. But at the end of the day, it’s an act of service, right?” Kapoor said.

“We’re making films to reach the audiences, to entertain them. So you can’t completely disregard what they’re feeling or what they’re saying. I mean, I think the audience is God and we’re only catering and trying to serve them,” she added.

Kapoor said she welcomes criticism if it pushes artists to do better.

“So, I mean, all their opinions are welcome. And if it results in us making better work and doing better work, then we’ll take all of it,” she said.

Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, “Peddi” also stars Boman Irani, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu and Divyenndu. The film is scheduled for release June 4.

Kapoor was last seen in Shashank Khaitan’s “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,” alongside Varun Dhawan, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Paul and Akshay Oberoi. (Source: IANS)
