Chennai– Music director S. Thaman, whose pulsating score for Sunny Deol’s newly released film Jaat has drawn widespread praise alongside the cast’s performances, says he approached the background music not merely as accompaniment, but as a powerful character in its own right.

“If Sunny Deol’s fists are the fire in Jaat, then my score is the storm that fuels the inferno,” says Thaman.

From the opening frame, it’s evident that the music in Jaat isn’t just layered beneath the action—it’s the invisible force propelling the drama forward and amplifying the stakes. Thaman’s instinctive grasp of rhythm and mood transforms slow-motion entries, power-packed dialogues, and high-stakes face-offs into electrifying cinematic moments.

“I didn’t want the music in Jaat to just follow the visuals—I wanted it to charge with them, to set the emotional tempo of every scene,” Thaman explained. “This isn’t just a background score, it’s a character in the film.”

Known for both his soulful melodies and adrenaline-pumping soundscapes, Thaman said the sonic palette for Jaat was meticulously designed to reflect the spirit of the film.

“The thump of the dhol, the synth stabs, and even the silences were all carefully crafted to echo the rage, pride, and raw energy of the Jaat identity,” he said. “I’m grateful that listeners connected with the blend of rustic textures, modern aggression, and controlled chaos. The goal was to make the audience feel like the music was punching through the screen along with Sunny sir.”

Jaat is directed by Gopichand Malineni and stars Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, and Regina Cassandra alongside Sunny Deol. The film features cinematography by Rishi Punjabi and editing by Navin Nooli. (Source: IANS)
