BOSTON – The Small Business Administration (SBA) has named Suvarcha Madan-founded ComForCare the 2018 Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year for Massachusetts and New England.
ComForCare earned the recognition for tremendous growth in both revenue and job creation.
The company is a non-medical, private-duty home care agency located in Canton, MA providing services throughout Bristol, Norfolk, Suffolk, Middlesex and Plymouth counties. ComForCare provides services including: Personal Care, Errands, Bathing/Dressing, Safe Ambulation, Dr. Appointments, Hourly & Live-in Services, Chore Services, Grooming/Hygiene, Bed/Tub Transfers, Safety Supervision, Benefit Coordination, Meal Preparation, Transportation, Homemaking, Companionship, and Medication Reminders.
“Suvarcha started ComForCare in a highly competitive field without significant business experience,” said SBA Massachusetts District Director Robert Nelson. “Due to hard work, passion and perseverance, and help from the SBA, she has built a seven-figure business that is truly making a difference in people’s lives. We congratulate her on the success and recognize her contributions through her home care work.”
In March of 2014, an SBA microloan with South Eastern Economic Development (SEED) Corporation for $50,000 was approved to start the business. Due to success of the business in 2016, the previous loan was converted to $120,000 to help finance further expansion into neighboring territory.
ComForCare today has steadily multiplied in revenue, year after year – starting with just Ms. Madan herself with 5 part-time employees in 2014. Today, as revenue approaches multi-million dollar level, the company employs approximately 15 full-time and 100 part-time staff.
Ms. Madan also gives back to the community in a number of different ways supporting those living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia. She has been serving as Treasurer for the Neponset Valley Alzheimer’s association Partnership for the last three years.
The company was nominated by Maria Gooch-Smith, Executive Director at SEED Corporation.
Ms. Madan, President of the company, will be honored at the annual SCORE Boston / SBA awards luncheon along with other 2018 Massachusetts Small Business Week winners at the Sheraton Needham Hotel on Friday, May 4th, 2018.
