BOSTON—India Association of Greater Boston, which has been celebrating India’s Independence Day for decades at Boston’s Hatch Shell, located along the banks of the scenic Charles River in Boston, is holding its annual India Day celebrations on Sunday, Aug. 14, marking the 69th anniversary of India’s Independence Day.
“We are ready to welcome everyone and present a great cultural program based on theme fusion,” says IAGB Director and Cultural Committee Co-Chair Jeyanthi Ghatraju. “The cultural program will include a fusion of music, dance, hip-hop and a number of items from different parts of India.”
On Sunday, IAGB will also give out its annual awards to distinguished youth and members of the Indian-American community. The program at the Hatch Shell on Aug. 14, will start at 4:00 pm and continue until 8:00 pm.
Organizers of the event say the India Day at Hatch Shell is packed with a lot of fun, food, dance performances, networking, shopping and festivities.
There will also be a silent auction for a chance to win two round trip tickets to India. Regarding getting to Hatch Shell, organizers advise to take a train to Chalres/Mass General Hospital on Red Line and then walk over the bridge to the event.
If you are driving, park your cars at the Boston Commons or other nearby parking places and walk over.
“Give ample time for security checks. Bring a picnic chair or a tarp and chill out with young and not-so-young,” organizers advise.
