Mumbai Students’ Drug Overdose Case: Six Arrested as Probe Expands

Mumbai, April 14 — Mumbai Police have arrested a sixth suspect in connection with the deaths of two MBA students following an alleged drug overdose at a music concert in Goregaon East, officials said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred during an event held on April 11 at the NESCO Centre and has raised fresh concerns over drug use at large public gatherings.

According to investigators, around 15–16 students from a reputed Mumbai college attended the concert. Police said one of the deceased consumed an ecstasy pill while en route to the venue and took another during the event, leading to a fatal overdose. The second student’s death is also suspected to be drug-related.

Authorities confirmed that multiple individuals have been taken into custody, including two students, the alleged drug supplier—who was found with several ecstasy pills—and individuals linked to the event’s organisation. Among those arrested are persons associated with NESCO’s event management team.

Preliminary findings suggest the drugs may have been sourced from outside Mumbai, with police now expanding the investigation to trace the broader supply network.

A video from the concert showing attendees dancing has since gone viral, drawing public attention to the case.

In a statement, the NESCO Centre said it is cooperating fully with authorities: “We understand the seriousness of the situation and are extending our full cooperation… to ensure that the facts are established at the earliest.”

Police said further investigations are ongoing. (Source: IANS)
