Mona Singh on Embracing Risk, Reinvention, and a Fuller Life

Actor reflects on career choices, memorable roles, and the courage to step beyond comfort zones

MUMBAI Mona Singh says her approach to life and acting has been guided by a simple idea: take risks, face fears, and keep evolving.

In a recent interview, the actress reflected on her journey from her breakthrough role in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin to her more recent performances, describing a career shaped by experimentation and conscious choices.

“My journey… it’s been a journey of constant learning and a lot of gratitude,” Singh said. “Staying consistent, staying a little experimental, taking a little more risks in life.”

Singh emphasized that her goal has always been to live “a fuller, wholesome life,” something she believes comes from stepping outside comfort zones. “You do that by facing your fears, by choosing courage over self-doubt,” she said.

Rather than taking on roles at random, Singh described her body of work as carefully curated. She said she has been deliberate in selecting characters that challenge her creatively and leave a lasting impact.

“I am not just an actor with a long career,” she noted. “My work looks like a curated collection more than a random pile… every character for me is a standout one.”

Over the years, Singh has portrayed a wide range of roles, many of which she says continue to resonate with her personally. Among them is Bulbul Johri from Made in Heaven, a character she said connected deeply with audiences, particularly women.

She also pointed to more recent roles, including her performance in Maa Ka Sum, where she played Vinita, as well as her role in Subedar. Singh described these characters as strong, layered women whose stories continue to stay with her.

“All those characters have stayed with me,” she said. “Some things always stay with you.”

Singh was most recently seen in Maa Ka Sum alongside Mihir Ahuja and Ranveer Brar, further adding to a career she describes as both evolving and intentional.

As she looks ahead, Singh’s philosophy remains rooted in growth and courage—choosing roles, and life paths, that push boundaries and make the journey more meaningful. (Source: IANS)
