MARLBOROUGH, MA – With 60 teams set to take center stage for electrifying group dance competitions, the largest Indian-American arts festival NEMA Drishya 2018 will hold its grand finale on April 28 at Marlboro Middle School in Marlborough, MA.
The multi-day festival is organized by New England Malayalee Association, known as NEMA.
Four days of competitions are already over. Drishya 2018 kicked off with non-classical singing competitions on Day 1, hosting over 100 performers in a single day. Classical singing followed on Day 2 with over 70 competitors. Painting and various literary competitions were conducted on Day 3 which saw over 300 participants.
“This year in addition to competitions, NEMA launched ‘Art from the Heart’, a painting exhibition which attracted 15 amazingly creative artists who exhibited their favorite paintings to a highly appreciative audience,” NEMA said in a statement. “We are already seeing a lot of inquiries about the next exhibition date, so there is no doubt that this is another great addition to Drishya program line up. Day 4 wrapped up on April 7th with another 75 performers showcasing their classical dancing skills.”
NEMA President Simon Soman said the level of talent and artistic quality on display has been extremely high.
“It has been an honor and privilege to watch the performances live,” said Mr. Soman. “An event of this magnitude requires a lot of hard work and dedication from teachers, parents, and program volunteers. NEMA is extremely grateful to all who have worked behind the scenes to make this event a huge success.”
