Kailash Kher Performs ‘Bam Lahiri’ at Kedarnath Temple

MUMBAI, India — Musician Kailash Kher visited the Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand, where he sought blessings and performed his devotional song “Bam Lahiri,” dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Kher shared a video of himself standing before the temple, surrounded by snow-covered Himalayan peaks. In the clip, the singer is heard performing the track as devotees gather in the spiritual setting.

“Mahadev ka dhaam, Pooran saare kaam. Jai Jai Kedara,” he wrote in the caption.

Kedarnath Temple is one of the 12 jyotirlingas and is located in the Garhwal Himalayan range of Uttarakhand. Because of extreme weather conditions, the temple is open to the public only between April and November.

Kher, 52, rose to fame after singing “Allah Ke Bande” from the 2003 thriller “Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II.” He later became known for songs such as “Teri Deewani,” “Saiyyan” and “Bam Lahiri,” many performed with his band Kailasa.

He has also sung for films including “Mangal Pandey: The Rising,” “Corporate,” “Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love,” “Baahubali: The Beginning” and “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.”

In addition to playback singing, Kher has composed music for films such as “Chandni Chowk to China,” “Dasvidaniya,” “Sacred Evil,” “Sangini” and “Desi Kattey.”

On April 23, Kher shared a throwback photo with a guitar, captioning it, “Low-key vibes, high-key soul.”

His recent work includes “Jogi,” a devotional song paying tribute to Adi Shankaracharya. The video follows the spiritual leader’s journey and the establishment of the sacred mathas.

Kher said “Jogi” is more than a song for him.

“The same emotion felt by saints and mystics for centuries lives in this music. The vision of Adi Shankaracharya reminds us that true dharma is timeless — it continues to thrive in every seeker walking the path of truth,” he said.

Rooted in the Bhakti tradition, “Jogi” draws inspiration from ancient folk poetry and spiritual wisdom. (Source: IANS)
