IMANE to Host Nasir Khan Memorial Lecture Series on Saturday in Waltham

WALTHAM, MA–The Bournewood Health Systems in joint partnership with the Indian Medical Association of New England  (IMANE) is organizing “Nasir Khan Memorial Lecture Series: Update in Risk and Pain Management,” an annual Spring Continuing Medical Education (CME) lecture series on Saturday, May 7, in Waltham, MA.

The chair for this year’s CME is Dr. Umakanth Khatwa, MD, along with Dr. Naveen Pandaraboyina, MD. Dr. Sapna Aggrawal, is the president of IMANE.

The CME lecture will be held on from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the headquarters of Massachusetts Medical Society located at 860 Winter Street in Waltham, Ma. Indian lunch will be provided.

Organizers said the medical profession is becoming extremely complex and challenging to practice in this era of electronic health records, ever increasing healthcare cost, insurance coverage and medical malpractice litigation.

“This is an important CME program for physician from all specialties and cover broad range of complex topics from meaningful use of medical health record in era of patient privacy, review of few medical malpractice cases, and use of cannabis and innovative approach for pain management,” organizers said in a statement. “This program is eligible for 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. The speakers include physician leaders from the Greater New England area and a celebrity physician.

The CME lectures are organized in the memory of late Dr. Nasir Ali Khan, a former president of IMANE who passed away unexpectedly in 2014. Dr, Khan served as chairman and chief executive officer of Bournewood Hospital, after he and a group of doctors purchased the hospital in the early 1980s.

Founded in 1978, IMANE is a non-profit organization for medical professionals of Indian origin in the New England area. IMANE organizes and supports a number of professional and social activities for the benefit of its members and the communities it serves.
