BURLINGTON, MA—When general body of the India Association of Greater Boston meets on Oct. 8 to elect new officers and executive committee members for a two-year term, it will face a fierce competition for the posts of president and vice president. Secretary’s election will be unanimous as there was only one nomination. There is no candidate for the position of treasurer. The new committee will nominate a treasurer.
Syed Ali Rizvi and Aditi Taylor, both members of the current executive committee of the IAGB, are running for the hotly-contested presidential post.
Observers say anyone can win the election, and that and it was too difficult to predict a winner at this point. IAGB Treasurer Sanjay Gowda and executive committee member Venu Rao are running for the position of vice president.
“The Nominating Committee has completed its deliberations and recommended nominees to the positions in the IAGB Executive Committee for the 2017-2019 term,” IAGB Secretary Avinash Patil said in an email letter to IAGB members. The email letter was sent only to those IAGB members who are eligible to vote under the current rules, he added.
“The director positions are uncontested,” Patil said.
The election to the positions of president and vice president will be held at the IAGB General Body Meeting on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017 at the Academy of Creative Arts, located at 12 A Burlington, MA, at 1:30 pm.
