You’ll be blown away by Alia in ‘Kalank’: Varun Dhawan
Mumbai– Actor Varun Dhawan, who has worked with his “Student Of The Year” co-star Alia Bhatt in multiple projects, says the audience will be as blown away as him by her work in their forthcoming project “Kalank”.
Varun wrapped up “Kalank” on Thursday night.
He took to Instagram to share: “It’s my fourth film with Alia Bhatt. Wow, and it always feels like it’s new. She is amazing in the film but one thing she has done great is run very well, and I’m proud of her. Lol. She knows she is my favourite but Shanaya, Kavya, Vaidehi and… wait for it, you guys are going to be as blown away as I was by her.”
“All our fans, we work damn hard just to make sure we don’t let you down and hope we don’t.”
He said working for the first time with Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt has been a “top class” experience.
“This cast and crew has put in every thing. Also Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala sir are the best bosses to have. Get ready for our biggest film and my toughest role. ‘Kalank’,” he added.

Mumbai– Actress Dia Mirza says women have long endured a culture of silence, and because of that, sexual predators have got encouragement.
Dia was interacting with the media at a panel discussion on “Harvey Weinstein – The Inside Story”, along with Swara Bhasker and documentarian Anant Patwardhan here on Thursday. It was hosted as part of &Prive HD’s &Prive Soiree, a regular on-ground engagement by the channel.
The actress said: “I feel every woman should watch this film to understand how society functions, especially people in positions of power. More than anything else, it will encourage more women to come forward with their stories because we have long endured a culture of silence.
“I think because of silence of women, sexual predators have got encouragement, so I feel when women will talk openly about these issues then only, we will be able to see the change.”
Kangana Ranaut refuses to bow down to Karni Sena
Mumbai– Actress Kangana Ranaut is determined to fight against the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, who have threatened protests if the film is not screened for the outfit before theatrical release.
The actress says if they don’t stop harassing her, she will “destroy them”.
According to reports, the Maharashtra wing of the Karni Sena protested against the film on Thursday alleging that the period drama “alludes to Rani Laxmibai’s relationship with a British officer”.
The outfit — which led a long protest against “Padmaavat” in 2017 — also claimed that the film shows the queen dancing to a special number, saying that it is against tradition. They asked the makers of the film to show them the movie before its release.
“Four historians have certified ‘Manikarnika…’. We have got censor certificate as well. Karni Sena has been conveyed this but they are continuing to harass me,” Kangana said in a statement.

Ankita got popular as Archana from TV show “Pavitra Rishta”. She will be making her Bollywood debut with “Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi”.
When Ankita visited Indore for the promotions of her debut film, her parents accompanied her for the press conference and other visits. Her parents were overwhelmed with the response she received during her stay in her hometown.
The actress says her parents have supported her throughout her journey.
Feel blessed being part of ‘Dream Girl’: Nushrat Bharucha
Mumbai– Actress Nushrat Bharucha, who was last seen on-screen in “Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety”, says she feels blessed being a part of the quirky comedy film “Dream Girl”, which also stars Ayushmann Khurrana.
On being a part of “Dream Girl”, Nushrat said: “I like this quirky comedy space a lot. Ayushmann is of course really good at picking these kind of films. I am really blessed being part of ‘Dream Girl’ because that film’s script is really funny and quirky.”
Talking about her forthcoming film “Turram Khan”, Nushrat said: “I am working in ‘Turram Khan’ with Hansal Mehta and Rajkummar Rao. It’s like a dream combination. I wanted to work with them from many years and finally, I am working with them.”
Challenging to do comedy show on Swachh Bharat, says Rashami
New Delhi– Actress Rashami Desai, who will be seen creating awareness about cleanliness in the new sitcom “Chalo Saaf Karein”, says imparting the social message through comedy was challenging for her.
“Comedy is not an easy genre to do. I have made a lot of people cry through my previous shows, but this time I tried my hand at a different genre. Through this show, I realised that comedy is not an easy job to do,” Rashami told IANS during the promotion of the show here on Friday.
“It’s easy to make people cry, but it takes a lot of effort to make someone laugh, especially when you have to impart a social message on Swachh Bharat,” she added.
“Chalo Saaf Karein” is backed by Doordarshan and the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. It revolves around cleanliness and sanitation with a comical twist.
The actress of “Uttaran” fame also urged people to support the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

A film tends to lose out in a crowd sometimes: Divya Dutta
New Delhi– Actress Divya Dutta, whose “Fanney Khan” will air on the small screen on Friday, says sometimes a film gets lost in the crowd, but then a TV screening can sometimes give people a chance to see it with a different perspective.
“Fanney Khan”, directed by Atul Manjrekar, had a lot of pre-release buzz owing to its cast, which also included Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao. It did not fare well at the box office.
Divya told IANS over phone from Mumbai: “One, I think it came with a lot of films. There were a lot of films releasing that time, and it does happen that a film tends to lose out in the crowd sometimes. And I think as it is coming on TV, a lot of people are going to watch it… all those who may have missed it.”
“It was a lovely film. My family, a few of them, saw it on OTT platform and said it was lovely. I guess you see a film with a different perspective when you watch it again and like it. It’s about newer beginnings, it’s about giving it another audience and viewership,” she added.
“Fanney Khan” will have its world TV premiere on Sony MAX.
Indian showbiz typecasts people with white skin: Jason Shah
Mumbai– Actor Jason Shah, who has roots in the US and UK, feels the Indian entertainment industry has always typecast people with white skin.
He will be soon seen playing a British High Commissioner in the “Jhansi Ki Rani” show.
“I personally feel that the Indian entertainment industry has always typecast people with white skin like me. We are always approached to play ‘foreigner roles’. So, I’m already prepared,” Jason of “Bigg Boss” fame said in a statement.
But he is happy to make his debut in the fiction space with a historical show.
“I feel that such shows educate people and also provide entertainment,” he said.
Jason has also featured in Bollywood movies like “Thugs of Hindostan” and “Partner”. (IANS)
