Tabu decodes the success of ‘Andhadhun’
New Delhi– Actress Tabu feels the success of “Andhadhun” owes itself to the fact that it is not a formula film, and makes the audience re-think about it after a watch.
“It’s difficult for me to break it down. ‘Andhadhun’ is not a formula film that became such a big success. If you make a formula film you can say it had this much action, songs or beautiful locales. But this film did not have any of these formulae, so that we may say it worked because of that. When the film is different and is successful, then you understand that it has appealed the ina different level,” Tabu told IANS.
What makes the film so popular nationally and internationally? “People have enjoyed it, thought about it, wondered about it, and people are still having a conversation about what happened in the end, and if the character was really blind or not. The film made people think, and that’s the reason they saw it several times and (each time) they found out something different. It’s the amazing writing, and thought process of (director) Sriram Raghavan (that made the difference). I wish I knew (what worked),” she added.
Shilpa braces for different image in comeback film ‘Nikamma’
Mumbai– Actress Shilpa Shetty-Kundra has revealed that she will be present in a completely new manner in her upcoming film, “Nikamma”, when she makes a comeback after a 13-year sabbatical.
“I will start shooting for the film soon. I am reading up for the film, and preparing in other ways, so it’s all new for me. I am enjoying the process. I think this is the right time since it is all about content now. I really liked the script of the film,” Shilpa said, abot the romantic comedy, starring Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia, and directed by Sabbir Khan.
“I feel Sabbir Khan who is the director of the film is presenting me in a different manner so, I am really excited for it,” Shilpa added.
Asked Shilpa how it feels to return after 13 years, she said: “I think once an actor always an actor, and once you taste the blood you cannot stay away from it for a long time.”
Although she was out of the big-screen scenario, Shilpa has never stayed outside the limelight. She regularly posts “Swasth Raho Mast Raho” recipes on the fitness app she has created.
“Yoga and fitness have become a part of my life. I don’t need to make an effort to do it. I think these things are important for self-preservation. I prescribe and subscribe to yoga because it’s a holistic way of improving your mental and physical health,” said Shilpa, while interacting with the media at the launch of India’s first Apple premium reseller flagship store, Aptronix, in Mumbai.
I feel like a newcomer: Shahid Kapoor
Mumbai– Actor Shahid Kapoor, who is enjoying the success of “Kabir Singh”, says he still feels like an outsider, and is trying to figure out how he fits in the new Bollywood group.
Since the time he entered the industry, Shahid kept a distance from the Bollywood tribes. But lately he has been spotted hanging out with biggies like Karan Johar, Deepika Padukone and Varun Dhawan.
“I kind of feel like I don’t belong here, I feel like a newcomer. I need to figure out this new room, and this new club that I’ve entered. Even though I’ve been here for 15-16 years, it’s not my comfort zone, I need to get my head around it. I can’t (afford to) feel like I know exactly what’s going on, and exactly what I need to do next. So, I’m trying to keep it simple, and eventually I’ll go with my instinct and my gut,” he said.
Since “Ishq Vishk”, Shahid has proved his mettle by playing complex and layered characters in projects like “Kaminey”, “Haider” and “Udta Punjab”.
“Sometimes, something comes along, and you feel, ‘Yeah, I got this’. But my best work has happened when I’ve had no idea how I’m going to pull off a role, or I’ve had nothing to draw on from my past work.
“I’m never ‘OK’ with how I am. I need to keep changing and learning, even if it’s not always so fast,” Shahid has said in the cover story of GQ India’s August 2019 issue.
Raghu Ram, wife expecting first child
Mumbai– MTV “Roadies” famed TV producer and actor Raghu Ram and his Canadian singer wife Natalie Di Luccio are “over the Moon” as they are all set to become parents for the first time.
Raghu on Sunday shared a picture on Instagram of himself touching his wife’s baby bump as she held up a pair of blue baby shoes. The couple is expecting their first born in January 2020.
He captioned the image: “Getting ready for the biggest adventure of my life yet! Natalie Di Luccio. #OverTheMoon.”
Natalie shared the same image and captioned: “This has been a hard secret to keep! We are so excited and can’t wait to meet you little munchkin! #January2020”
Raghu and Natalie tied the knot in Goa in December last year. The couple got married in a traditional South Indian wedding, with their close friends and family in attendance.
Rakul Preet loves to flaunt black
Mumbai– Actress Rakul Preet Singh says she loves to flaunt the colour black.
The actress took to Instagram on Monday morning to share a picture of herself in a gorgeous black outfit and captioned it, “#make your own rules #loveofblack”.
Clearly, Rakul wants to start her busy working day with a colour that makes her happy and we can bet that she looks absolutely stunning.
The 28-year-old was last seen in May alongside Ajay Devgn in the Bollywood rom-com “De De Pyaar De”. The actress is simultaneously working in Tamil,. Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films.
Rakul will next be seen in Milap Zaveri’s “Marjaavaan”, which also stars Riteish Deshmukh, Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria. The action drama is slated to hit theatres in October.
Shah Rukh to be felicitated with Excellence in Cinema award
Melbourne– Shah Rukh Khan, the superstar of Hindi cinema, will be felicitated with the Excellence in Cinema award at the 10th edition of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne on August 8.
SRK will be presented the award by Linda Dessau, who was sworn in as Victoria’s 29th Governor, the first female in the role. The felicitation will take place at the Palais Theatre here.
Shah Rukh is also the chief guest at the festival, which will celebrate courage as its central theme in 2019.
Keeping with the festival’s theme of celebrating courage, it wants to pay tribute to SRK’s continuous contribution to cinema and popular culture in India with this award.
“I’m humbled and honoured for this recognition. It will be a great experience to share the stage and the podium with my fellow industry members who are all coming from various parts of India to celebrate cinema in Melbourne.
“I look forward to meeting her excellency, Linda Dessau, at the wonderful evening that has been planned by IFFM,” said Shah Rukh, who has been entertaining masses since early 90s with movies such as “Deewana”, “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” and “My Name Is Khan”.
Taapsee thanks Anubhav for making her believe in her choices
Mumbai– Actress Taapsee Pannu has thanked director Anubhav Sinha for making her believe in the films that she works in.
With her movie “Mulk” completing a year of its release on Sunday, Taapsee took to Twitter to thank its director.
“1 year of ‘Mulk’. Thank you so much for making me believe in my choices Anubhav Sinha. ab chalein agle maukaam ki taraf. (Let’s go towards the next goal),” she wrote.
“Mulk” is about a Muslim family trying to reclaim its lost honour. It also stars Rishi Kapoor, Prateik Babbar and Rajat Kapoor.
Currently, Taapsee awaits the release of her next “Saand Ki Aankh”, which will narrate the real-life story of shooters Chandro and Prakashi. Hailing from Johri village in Uttar Pradesh, the sisters reportedly took to sharpshooting in their fifties.
I’m supposed to wear glasses but I never do: Nargis Fakhri
Mumbai– Actress Nargis Fakhri doesn’t have sharp eyes, but doesn’t like to wear spectacles because she finds them uncomfortable.
“I am supposed to wear glasses, but I never do as I don’t feel comfortable wearing specs. I can’t see distance…,” Nargis said.
She recalls how once she had to struggle because she was without specs.
“One evening I had a meeting and was driving on an unfamiliar highway. I use my phone as my GPS, so I can see things in advance and up close. I hadn’t charged my phone properly, and it ended up dying on the way. I had to rely on my eyes to find the right exit at the right time. Since everything seemed blurry at a distance, I couldn’t make out the exit sign in time and missed it, and ended up at a zoo! I remember being a little scared and laughing at myself,” added Nargis, who has endorsed Bausch and Lomb iconnect lenses in a campaign.(IANS)
