Kareena is inspiration for working girls: Swara

Mumbai– Actress Swara Bhasker says her “Veere Di Wedding” co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan is an inspiration for all working girls.

Swara donned the role of a radio jockey as ‘BIG MJ of the Week’. During a conversation with BIG MJ Dilip, the actress talked about Kareena and more, read a statement.

“She (Kareena) is an inspiration for the working girls. She has proved that one can have a successful career along with enjoying their personal life. The way she has managed both her professional and personal life is simply amazing,” Swara said.

Asked which biography she would like to work in, she said: “I would like to do a biography of Madhubalaji, if one is ever made on this iconic Bollywood actress. If any biography is made on any historical figure, I would like to do the role of Indira Gandhi.”

I dislike people who stereotype women: Teena Singh

Mumbai– Actress Teena Singh, who has featured in projects like “Akira” and “Broken But Beautiful”, says she is not a fan of people who stereotype women.

“I dislike people who stereotype women, like how could they judge any girl wearing a short dress or having short length hair would not be following ethics, morals or otherwise or if I have a brown skin, I would not be entertained in the media world as it is owned by the fair complexion actors,” Teena said in a statement.

“I have proudly broken the myth time and again with each of my show, series and movies that I have been a part of even though being a dark brown skinned girl,” she added, who is now part of the new series “Date Gone Wrong”.

Talking about the series, co-produced by Culture Machine and Eros Now, she said: “‘Date Gone Wrong’ is a fabulous series, which is not only humorous but also puts light on the stereotypes of the world. Small minded people are such a turn off. It’s a free world and everyone should be allowed to live their life like they want to.”

Mahek Chahal to feature in show on stalking

Mumbai– Actress Mahek Chahal, who has been part of reality shows like “Bigg Boss” and “Power Couple”, will feature in the upcoming show “Ek Thi Rani, Ek Tha Raavan” which will deal with stalking.

She will be seen dancing to the song “Ringa ringa” from the film “Slumdog Millionaire” at the engagement party of Rivaaj, the protagonist of the show.

“I am super excited to be a part of Star Bharat’s upcoming show ‘Ek Thi Rani, Ek Tha Raavan’. I will be performing on one of the most iconic songs by A.R. Rahman Sir which is ‘Ringa ringa’,” Mahek said in a statement.

“I will soon be shooting for the song. I am totally energised and looking forward to it,” she added.

Vir Das, Netflix collaborate for third show in a row

Mumbai– Comedian-actor Vir Das, who has received positive reviews for his latest Netflix stand-up comedy special “Losing It”, has bagged another project on the online streaming platform.

The yet untitled project would be Vir’s third project with Netflix. In 2017, he became the first Indian to have his own Netflix comedy show “Abroad Understanding”.

Talking about the upcoming project, Vir said in a statement: “I am currently working on the script for the third special. We will shoot it next year. The response for ‘Losing It’ has just been phenomenal and I look forward to working on another one”.

Netflix great for Indian talent to show capability to world: Anil Kapoor

Mumbai– Actor-producer Anil Kapoor, who has backed Netflix’s forthcoming show “Selection Day”, says the streaming platform is a fruitful opportunity for Indian talent to showcase their craft to the world.

“This show (‘Selection Day’) is an adaption of a really good novel (Aravind Adiga’s eponymous book). It will be screened on December 28 in more than 190 countries all over the world. I think Netflix is a brilliant platform for Indian actors and technicians to show off their capabilities to the entire world,” Kapoor said here.

Anil said collaborating with Netflix as a producer made him feel that production is no longer a thankless job.

“Earlier I used to feel that production is a thankless job. In our family, my father, my elder brother and I have produced many films. After working with Netflix on this show, I feel that production is no longer a thankless job, but it’s the best job. When you are working with them, nothing gets bigger than that,” he said.

Karan Vohra plays ‘no-nonsense doctor’ in TV show

Mumbai– Actor Karan Vohra will play Veer, who is a young and no-nonsense doctor, in the show “Krishna Chali London”.

Apart from being a doctor, Veer is also Krishna’s professor in the show. He will be a hurdle in Krishna’s journey of becoming a doctor.

“Dr. Veer is a young, no-nonsense doctor who is the head of the Cardiology Department at London Medical College. He has adopted British culture leaving behind his Indian roots completely. This is the first time playing a doctor on screen,” Karan said in a statement.

“What attracted me the most about the character is his different shades and his ideologies in life. Being a newbie in the television industry, I believe in experimenting with characters,” he added.

Vikrant Massey bags Meghna Gulzar’s film

Mumbai– Actor Vikrant Massey has bagged a pivotal role in Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming film in which actress Deepika Padukone will play the role of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.

“We will start the film in the third week of March 2019, and the cast is still coming together. Vikrant is somebody who I wanted to work with since ‘Raazi’.

“And after I saw him in ‘A Death In The Gunj’…you know there are some actors that you just want to work with — and I’m just glad I got the opportunity to have a suitable character for him in this film, which is Deepika’s partner,” Meghna said in a statement.

Talking about his character, she said: “He’s a north Indian man who used to be a professional but decides to leave it all and become an actor. And then starts this campaign against acid attack violence. (IANS)
