Comedy audiences want to be surprised: Shubhangi
Mumbai– Shubhangi Atre, who plays Angoori Bhabi in “Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain”, has won Best Actress – Comedy actor at Indian Television Academy (ITA) Awards. She says doing comedy is pretty hard and that the audience wants to be surprised.
“It’s pretty hard to be good in doing comic roles. As an actor, you have to make sure what kind of comedy you want to do because for an actor, it’s not easy to tell jokes to make your audience laugh,” Shubhangi said in a statement.
Talking about connecting with the audience, she said: “When you start out and you go up in front of the audience via screen…you realise that they did not come to see you and don’t know you. It should be your talent that they will have to watch.
“You have to let them know this is ‘who I am’ and do it very quickly. It has to be honest and carry some magnetic energy so that they watch you and don’t change the channel.”
Arjun Rampal to make digital debut
Mumbai– Actor Arjun Rampal will make his digital debut with “The Final Call”, a web series which is an adaptation of author Priya Kumars book “I Will Go With You”.
“I am thrilled about my digital debut with ZEE5 for ‘The Final Call’. This story is special and you will see me in a very different avatar. We just wrapped up our first shoot schedule in Kashmir and I cannot wait to present the final product to the viewers,” Arjun said in a statement.
The series is slated for an early 2019 release.
Manish Aggarwal, Business Head, ZEE5 India, said: “‘The Final Call’ is our maiden foray into the genre of web series based on book adaptations. Arjun Rampal fit the character of the protagonist perfectly.”
“The Final Call” will take audiences on a ride of life and death.
Shilpa to attend fundraising gala with Longoria
Dubai– Actress-entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty Kundra is set to attend the Global Gift Gala, hosted in Dubai, along with Hollywood actress Eva Longoria Baston and other celebrities.
The evening promises to be a glittering fusion of celebrity and philanthropy. Launched by philanthropist Maria Bravo, the Global Gift Gala Dubai, in association with the Global Gift Foundation, aims to elevate the well-being and lives of children and families.
Returning to Dubai for the sixth time, the black-tie event will be held at Dubai’s Grosvenor House, on Thursday. The star-studded affair will feature a gala dinner and auction of both luxury goods and experiences.
Funds raised at this charity event will go towards UAE-based charity Dubai Cares and the Global Gift Foundation, which seeks to help underprivileged children around the world.
According to a source, among one of the four Indians in this high-profile event, “Shilpa Shetty Kundra will attend as a special guest for the high-impact charity gala. Having been a part of several fundraisers, she has been known for her philanthropic work.
Janhvi Kapoor honoured by Norwegian Consulate
Mumbai– Actress Janhvi Kapoor was on Tuesday presented “Arts Stjerneskudd” (Shooting Star of the Year) award by the Royal Norwegian Consulate here.
Dressed in a beautiful blue saree, the “Dhadak” actress came along with her father and film producer Boney Kapoor to receive the award in the presence of Iram Haq, the acclaimed Norwegian director. The event took place at the Metro INOX in Mumbai.
Talking on the occasion, Janhvi said: “It is an honour to be present here as any form of appreciation makes me feel special and I would like to continue my good work to live up to the expectation (of audience). I will work hard.”
Boney Kapoor said: “I am feeling proud as a father to be standing here next to her to receive the award. I am feeling elated to be here because every time any of my family members…my son and daughter achieve something, I feel proud.”
Feel fortunate for everything I’ve gone through: Katrina Kaif
Mumbai– Actress Katrina Kaif, looking forward to the release of her forthcoming film “Zero”, says she considers herself really fortunate for everything that she has gone through in her film career.
Katrina was interacting with the media at the launch of the song “Husn parcham” from “Zero”, along with film’s director Aanand L. Rai, music composer duo Ajay-Atul, lyricist Irshad Kamil, choreographer Bosco Martis and T-Series honcho Bhushan Kumar here on Wednesday.
Katrina Kaif made her Hindi film debut with Kaizad Gustad’s “Boom” in 2003 and in 2018, she has completed 15 years in the film industry.
Looking back at her journey, she said: “I feel very fortunate. I feel that I have experienced and seen so many beautiful things in the last few years. I have seen ups and downs. I have seen the worst and highest of times but I just feel really fortunate for everything that I have gone through.
“I feel fortunate today to be working in a film like this, to be part of the film with the kind of talent that we have — from Aanand sir, to Shah Rukh (Khan) and to Anushka (Sharma). I think as long as I am getting the opportunity to showcase, learn and take my art forward with the best people that we have today in the film industry, I am really grateful.
“As long as I am learning something — even if it is a little bit every day — as long as I feel that I am adding and improving in my craft and giving my audience something new, then I feel quite happy.”
My mother-in-law is my biggest fan: Shweta Tripathi
Mumbai– Actress Shweta Tripathi, who got married earlier this year to rapper Chaitnya Sharma aka SlowCheeta, says she is very fortunate to have supportive in-laws. In fact, she says her mother-in-law is her biggest fan.
Shweta, who recently appeared in two web series “The Trip” and “Mirzapur”, told IANS here: “I think more than my husband, my mother-in-law gets excited and proud and what not whenever she sees me on-screen.
“I want to say that she is my biggest fan (laughs) — whether it is my film or my web series, she and my brother-in-law are the two family members who would watch the show and give me feedback. I think I am really fortunate that I have got a family like this after marriage.”
She added: “People should always support each other in a profession like ours where we have so much emotional investment. As a performing artiste, we always need love and support from family.”
Having started her career in television with the show “Kya Mast Hai Life”, Shweta gained popularity with the film “Masaan” and acted in films like “Love Shots”, “Haraamkhor”, “Beautiful World” and was part of “Zoo”, the first ever Indian feature film that was shot on iPhone.
Never thought I’d play mother so soon: Tanvi Dogra
Mumbai– Actress Tanvi Dogra, who started off her television career with “Jiji Maa” last year, says she had never thought that she would have to play a mother so soon on the small screen.
The actress has donned many looks on the show and will now be seen with a baby bump.
Tanvi had lost her mother at a young age. She found it a challenge to understand and get into the skin of a mother’s character.
“I never thought I’ll have to play a mother so soon on television. It’s a character that needs a sense of responsibility. It requires a lot of maturity to portray a mother,” Tanvi said in a statement.
“For me, it’s even more difficult to get into the skin of a mother’s role,” she added.(IANS)
