When Raveena Tandon told reporters, ‘You let me off too cheap’

Mumbai– An old video of actress Raveena Tandon playfully bantering with the paparazzi and quipping, “Bhut saste mai chor diya meko,” has recently resurfaced online.

In a throwback interview, the ‘Mohra’ actress, while addressing the media, shared her thoughts on what drives her as an actor.

In a clip currently making rounds on social media, Raveena can be heard saying to the media persons, “Bhaiya, please hold this for him. Thank you, Sir. No, let everyone roll first. Everyone is standing still; no one is rolling. Sir, are you ready? Okay, everyone is rolling.”

When asked about her roles, she revealed, “You’ve asked me 50 times about my role in different films, and every time I say the same thing—I can’t reveal the role. But one thing I can share is that nowadays, I’ve started taking on roles that challenge me as an actor. I look for roles that genuinely excites me.”

Despite her professional insight, she maintained her trademark humour, joking, “By the way, you could have asked me to say Happy Diwali, Happy New Year, or Merry Christmas… Nahi, are saste mein chhod diya tumne mujhe!”

On the work front, the National Award-winning actress rose to prominence as the leading lady in blockbuster action films such as “Dilwale”, “Mohra,” “Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi”, and “Ziddi.”

She teamed up with Govinda for several hit comedies, including, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” “Dulhe Raja,” and “Anari No.1.”

Venturing beyond her comedic roles, Tandon delivered impactful performances in the crime dramas “Ghulam-E-Mustafa” and “Shool.”

After a hiatus, Raveena made a comeback in 2017 with the thriller “Maatr,” earning acclaim for her performance. She further impressed audiences with her lead role in the Netflix crime thriller series “Aranyak.” In 2022, she appeared in her highest-grossing film to date, Yash starrer “K.G.F: Chapter 2.”

Katrina Kaif seeks blessing from Sai Baba in Shirdi

Mumbai– Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, who was last seen in the Vijay Sethupathi-starrer ‘Merry Christmas’, visited the shrine of Sai Baba in Shirdi on Monday.

The actress offered her prayers to the Sufi saint. After seeking blessings, the actress was felicitated by Pragya Mahandule-Sinare, Administrative Officer of Shri Sai Baba Sansthan. On this occasion, temple head Vishnu Thorat was also present.

The actress tied the knot with Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal in 2021, and recently celebrated 3 years of her union with the actor. The two tied the nuptial knot at the Six Senses Fort Barwara Hotel.

The actress seems to be on an acting sabbatical. After her marriage, the actress has so far done only three films, ‘Phone Bhoot’, ‘Tiger 3’ in which she reunited with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, and ‘Merry Christmas’.

While Katrina seems to be making the most of her break, her husband, Vicky Kaushal has been constantly climbing up the ladder of stardom. The actor, who has done relatively diverse work in a span of 9 years, was last seen in ‘Bad Newz’ in which he shared the screen with Bollywood sensation Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk.

The actor has ‘Chhaava’ lined up for the release. The film was suppose to clash swords with the Allu Arjun-starrer ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ at the box-office but the makers decided to push the film’s release.

‘Chhava’, directed by Laxman Utekar, is based upon the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Indian warrior-king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna in the role of Yeshubai Bhosle, wife of Sambhaji Maharaj along with Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana and Divya Dutta in supporting roles.

The first look of ‘Chhava’ was attached with the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer ‘Stree 2’. The first look of the film showcased Vicky fighting off the enemies inside a fort as he leaps and kills them while trying to “hold the fort”.

Vicky also has the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial ‘Love and War’ in the pipeline.

Here’s how Parineeti Chopra is going to spend ‘48 hours’ in Delhi

Mumbai– Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra is in the National Capital and has revealed her plans on how she is going to spend her “48 hours” at home.

Parineeti took to Instagram stories, where she shared a video of herself in the car driving to her “home”.

For the caption, she wrote: “Wait for it home for the weekend.” Along with the geotag of Delhi, India.

She then shared a photograph of herself holding a soft quilt.

Parineeti, who is married to politician Raghav Chaddha, wrote: “Came to enjoy 48 hours of blankets and sweaters.”

The actress was earlier in Goa, where she shared a glimpse of her “night shift” on social media. She took to her Instagram stories and offered fans a peek into her filming sessions in the coastal state.

She posted a photo from the sets and wrote in the caption, “Chalo night shift karne.” A photo of the script, featuring her name, was also visible.

On the work front, Parineeti was last seen in the biopic “Amar Singh Chamkila,” directed by Imtiaz Ali. In the Netflix film, she starred alongside Diljit Dosanjh and portrayed the role of Amarjot Kaur, the wife of the legendary singer Chamkila. For this challenging role, Parineeti underwent a remarkable physical transformation, gaining 16 kg to truly embody her character.

Next, Parineeti will star in the highly anticipated thriller “Sanki,” directed by Anurag Singh, where she will share the screen with Varun Dhawan. The project will mark her first onscreen collaboration with Varun.

Additionally, she is set to feature in “Shiddat 2,” directed by Karan Sharma, where she will act alongside Sunny Kaushal and Amyra Dastur. The film is expected to release in early 2025. The first part of the film starred Kaushal, Mohit Raina, Diana Penty, Arjun Singh, and Radhikka Madan.

Somy Ali: I don’t believe in resolutions

Mumba– Former actress Somy Ali shared that she doesn’t believe in resolutions and instead follows being a disciplinary.

As the New year approaches, asked what her new year resolutions are, Somy said: “I don’t believe in resolutions. I believe in being disciplinary and action oriented. My first love will always be to work hands-on with the law enforcement all over the U.S. and The National Human Trafficking Hotline, plus the FBI.”

She said that she wants to be there to comfort the victims, primarily children.

“Because as much as I love them I couldn’t have any of my own. The children I rescue mean the world to me and they are my children. I can relate to their pain and sorrow and my training has taught me to compartmentalize being a victim advocate separate from being me as a person. It’s not easy, but after 17 years I have learned to do it.”

“I never ever thought I would reach a number of 50,233 plus today five more domestic violence victims were rescued. I am in disbelief that my small nonprofit which was initiated from my own bedroom/office is now working nationally and internationally”

She said: “When one is told again and again they are worthless and will never amount up to anything from a young age, they take that to heart and it’s very literal to them. For that child, that teenager, that young adult, to win two U.S. Presidential awards to actually be in the company of President Obama and President Bush is like a dream even today.”

Without resolutions is a way Somy has always lived.

“Life is unpredictable as man makes plans while God laughs. I have always even in India done the opposite of authority out of women being repeatedly oppressed. When I was told by someone that I am a man and only I can have affairs and one night stands.”

“I was astounded even at 17 and had affairs unbeknownst to me that I was being used. Yet as a therapist and self analysis it was a teenager seeking attention and love and if being lied to and being used gave her that so be it. I am not at all ashamed or embarrassed of anything I did or how I lived my life in those 8-9 years in the 90’s. Let’s not forget I didn’t go there to act in films.”

She said that she went into movies to “fall in love and have it reciprocated”.

“Hence, I don’t make plans. I only believe in the law of the universe and want to leave a legacy that I fought till my last breath for my mother’s sake whom I couldn’t save when I was five and the millions of women, children, our LGBTQ families. SomyAliProductionsLLC.com is already moving forward.”

She said that she is working as a producer, writer, director and an actor in short films to submit to festivals.

“Therefore, I am content as I can create films of substance that tell the truth. I no longer have to fear hiding because I have in my hands the license to create anything I want and write. This time around there is nothing there that will stop me.” (IANS)
