I couldn’t be more proud: Priyanka to Jonas brothers
Los Angeles– Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas has given a shout out to her husband Nick Jonas and her brother-in laws Kevin and Joe Jonas, saying that she couldn’t be more proud of them.
Priyanka was lauding Nick, Kevin and Joe for their comeback single “Sucker” getting number one position on Billboard. She shared a link of the article on billboard.com.
The “Isn’t It Romantic” actress tweeted on Monday: “The Jonas Brothers debut at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100! OMG! I Could not be more proud of you guys (screaming inside)… Nick Jonas, Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas.”
According to billboard.com, The trio (Nick, Kevin and Joe) had previously reached a number 5 high with “Burnin’ Up” in 2008.
Taapsee, Anurag Kashyap unite for supernatural thriller
Mumbai– Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and actress Taapsee Pannu are coming together again for a supernatural thriller.
The yet-untitled film will be produced by Sunir Kheterpal for Azure Entertainment and will be shot in November and December this year. It is slated to release in 2020.
“I always knew I will work again with Anurag considering the experience I had during ‘Manmarziyaan’ but didn’t know it will happen so soon,” Taapsee said in a statement.
“Sunir and I have also been discussing on working on more subjects together since quite some time and this was an immediate ayes’ for all of us on board. I am looking forward to this film as I have not explored supernatural genre in Hindi films as yet,” she added.
At the moment, Kashyap is busy exploring locations for setting of the film as the place where the movie is set is integral to the supernatural theme.
“Taapsee keeps me on my toes and she is on a mission to push me to take on challenges. She threw this one at me and I am taking it on. I have never done anything like this before so I am looking forward to it,” Kashyap said.
Why ‘Kalank’ will be beyond commerce for Karan Johar
Mumbai– Filmmaker Karan Johar says the fate of “Kalank” will be beyond commerce for him since it is a project that was his “father’s dream”.
The multi-starrer film “Kalank”, produced by Karan, will release on April 17.
His Dharma Productions banner has delivered several commercially successful films.
At the teaser launch of “Kalank” here on Tuesday, Karan told the media: “Though all our films special for us, I would say, ‘Kalank’ is beyond its box office (collection) and beyond its commerce because it was my father’s dream that has got fulfilled with the release of the film.”
The teaser launch event was graced by the film’s star cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha.
On the film’s inception, Karan said: “After the release of ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ in 2003, I shared the story of ‘Kalank’ with my father. Since my father had knowledge about the subject… it became his dream to make the film.”
Women needn’t seek male permission to travel: Dia Mirza
Mumbai– Actress-producer Dia Mirza, who started travelling alone at the age of 18, has observed a change in the patriarchal mindset regarding solo women travellers, and she considers it empowering.
Dia took her first flight and went to Thailand along with one of her female friends after winning the Femina Miss India beauty pageant in 2000.
What changes has she seen in the society’s attitude towards solo women travellers?
Dia told IANS: “A girl does not have to seek permission from a man, or from the society to go out there to explore the world, she just needs her own permission. I think that is empowering.
“A girl cannot be on her own, comes from a patriarchal mindset. It comes from the mindset that a woman must be protected, they are weak when a girl travels solo, and I mean travelling anywhere — going on a vacation, going to work or to study abroad or anything that they do.”
“But there’s a shift in social conditioning that allows women to follow their choice to travel alone, travel free,” explained the actress.
While her experience was quite incredible, she said that solo travelling is not only liberating for any individual but also helps one understand how to be comfortable in your own company and look after your own self.
Bollywood needs worldwide market like Hollywood: Rohit Shetty
Mumbai– Bollywood filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who is known for delivering successful commercial hits like “Chennai Express”, “Singham” and “Simmba”, said on Tuesday unless the Bollywood has a worldwide market like the Hollywood, one should not expect huge budgets for action films.
Talking about correlation between budget and market, Rohit said: “I think we have the access to skill, computer graphics and other technologies. But we don’t have the budget for them. We do not get the required budget because we don’t have the market. I see no reason to compare us to Hollywood.
“In Hollywood, they release a film in one language — English — and the whole of America watches it. But when we are releasing a film in Hindi in India, we are also competing with the regional film industry like Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, Bengali and other films that are also doing well at the box office. That is why we have competition within ourselves.”
Working with Akshay an achievement: Rohit Shetty
Mumbai– Filmmaker Rohit Shetty who is working with National Award-winning Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar in his upcoming directorial venture titled “Sooryavanshi” says working with him is an achievement.
During an interactive session at the 20th edition of FICCI FRAMES, the global media, and entertainment conclave on Tuesday, Rohit said: “I did few body doubles for Akshay in the film ‘Suhaag’ and of course, we had a long association. We kept meeting. When I was shooting for the television show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ we met.”
“He started the show, I am hosting the show. Yes, we have respect for each other. Now that we are making a film together, I feel a sense of achievement,” he said.
Recalling his early days, he said: “I think it was my third film when I met him almost 27 years ago for ‘Suhaag’. Since then till now, the amount of dedication they have, their experience of 30 years in the industry, has given me an opportunity to learn when I am working with them. Whether it is Salman (Khan), Ajay (Devgn) and Akshay, they have survived in the industry for so long.” (IANS)
