Karan Patel hits back at trolls
Mumbai– Actor Karan Patel, who faces trolls on social media, feels there are many misconceptions about him. He says it is very important for people to know him as a person before judging him.
Karan has been trolled for his physique as well as acting skills. He has a message for all those who troll him.
“You feel that I don’t respect people and I am arrogant, then why don’t you troll me from your real identity? When you troll me, is it because you hate me or it gives you satisfaction? Don’t judge someone unless you know that person far too well,” Karan said in a statement.
“If someone says something similar to your family, what would be your reaction? It’s easy for me to get you behind bars but I won’t do it because it would hurt your family and I am here for mine, and hence I know what they would feel to see you suffer,” he added.
The actor spoke about the issue on TV show “Troll Police”, which brings celebrities and their trolls face-to-face. The show is aired on MTV and the episode will air on Saturday.
On getting trolled, he said: “What irks me is seeing my family upset as for me I’ve learnt to turn a deaf ear. But my family is affected by trolls.”
Rajinikanth ensured I ate on time: Pankaj Tripathi
Mumbai– Actor Panjak Tripathi, who will next be seen in Rajinikanth-starrer “Kaala”, says the megastar would ensure that he ate on time and regularly checked up on him when they shot for the movie together.
Pankaj plays a policeman in the project, which will also mark his debut in Tamil.
“My experience of shooting with Rajini sir has been amazing. He is a very humble man who used to check on me and ensure I ate on time. We have had conversations about acting, about spirituality and the film industry. When he is in front of the camera, he takes on a different persona. I learnt a lot from this experience,” Pankaj said in a statement.
“I knew I needed to be part of a film where I share screen space with someone of his calibre. The minute the offer came, I said ‘yes’ and I am delighted that I did,” he added.
The gangster film has been written and directed by Pa. Ranjith, and also features Nana Patekar and Huma Qureshi among others.
Fridays give Bhushan Kumar sleepless nights
New Delhi– Bhushan Kumar, head honcho of entertainment conglomerate T-Series, says Fridays give him sleepless nights when his production is about to release on the big screen.
Kumar told IANS: “Always. Whichever film I am producing… Like there are so many films I am not confident about before they are releasing… If you are putting in your own money so you are bound to feel all those things.
“There are so many films which didn’t work but I made profit because of digital, satellite and music… But still if a film doesn’t work on box-office you feel like people did not like the film,” he added.
Currently, T-Series has several films like “Fanne Khan”, “Blackmail”, “Batti Gul Meter Chalu”, “Arjun Patiala”, “Kedarnath”, “Cheat India” and “Bharat” in its kitty.
The latest release from the entertainment company is “Raid”, based on a true story about money laundering. The film, directed by Rajkumar Gupta, stars Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz.
Who said two actresses can’t be friends, asks Samta
Mumbai– Actress Samta Sagar doesn’t believe that two actresses can’t be friends.
The actress said she shares a close bond with her co-actor, Melissa Pais, who plays the character of Malai in the show “Har Shaakh Pe Ullu Baithaa Hai”.
Samta said in a statement: “Melissa and I share a strong bond. Who said two actresses can’t be friends? Right from the first day, we connected really well and would share acting and make-up tips.
“I admire her as an actor and I am grateful that the show brought us closer personally. She is my go-to person for any ups and downs in my life. I hope that this camaraderie grows even further with time.”

I really look up to Akshay Kumar: Saiyami Kher
New Delhi– “Mirzya” actress Saiyami Kher, a sports and fitness enthusiast, says she finds actor Akshay Kumar inspirational.
While fitness is a way of life for Saiyami, who has played badminton and cricket professionally, she says it’s not necessarily a decisive factor for a career as an actor in the entertainment industry.
“Looks and glamour are one part of the entertainment industry, but if you have a six-pack, it doesn’t mean that you’re a good actor. If you are doing an action film, you will need to physically look like an action hero. That’s when the physicality comes in; but to be an actor, body type is not important.
“What’s important is how you act and if the character requires you to have a particular kind of a body, then one has to work on that,” Saiyami told IANS.
She cited the examples of Bhumi Pednekar who first gained weight for “Dum Laga Ke Haisha” and then lost it for her subsequent projects, Randeep Hooda who went through drastic weight loss for “Sarbjit” and Aamir Khan who went through weight fluctuations for “Dangal”.
“With regards to fitness, you definitely need to remain very fit because if you are fit, you will get to do more work. But in the entertainment industry, I don’t think that’s the only focus because obviously acting always remains the main focus.
“I really look up to Akshay Kumar. He is tremendously fit and an inspiration.”
Saiyami, along with Anusha Dandekar, was in Lavasa, near Pune for the launch of adidas Ultra Boost X, attended by around 50 women from different walks of life last week. After a yoga session on day one, they indulged in a challenging 5K uphill run.
Running is Saiyami’s go-to way of staying fit, but she believes “fitness is completely in your mind”.
She hopes people, especially women, stop giving excuses to not workout.
“I understand that it’s very difficult to run a family, to have children, but at the same time, there’s always a way to find solutions. I urge all women to take out time for themselves and stay fit and make fitness an integral part of their life.”
What’s next on the work front?
“I am in talks for two very exciting projects and I’m just keeping my fingers really tightly crossed hoping that these take off soon.”
An actor is always open to experiment: Prachi Desai
New Delhi– Actress Prachi Desai, who will be seen in a dark urban fantasy film titled “Kosha”, says an actor is always open to experiment with new genres.
Asked if she is looking for an image change with “Kosha”, Prachi told IANS: “There is nothing called image change since every script has a different appeal and ‘Kosha’ is something that struck a chord with me on the script and characterisation level itself. An actor is always open to experimenting with new genres.
The actress says an urban dark fantasy is something that she was looking to do.
“Every film I believe takes something from you or you end up giving something to it and ‘Kosha’ gave me the opportunity to explore a new side all together with action to colouring my hair purple,” she added.
“Kosha” revolves around a disruptive girl who is a rock band member with a history of “alcohol and substance abuse.”
Talking about her role, she said: “Yes, I will be seen playing a singer/rock star and I always was keen to learn an instrument. This film helped me pick up the guitar. It covers a real dark space of a rock star who is going through her own ups and downs in life and the film weaves the journey beautifully.”
Need a good script to be cast with Kajol, says Ajay Devgn
New Delhi– Actor Ajay Devgn says it would need a good script to cast him and his actress wife Kajol in a film.
Ajay and Kajol have previously starred in films like “Ishq”, “Raju Chacha”, “Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha” and “U Me Aur Hum”.
Asked when would they be seen together again on screen, Ajay told IANS here: “It depends. Whenever we find a great script. It’s not very easy to cast both of us in a film. You need a good script.”
Ajay got married to Kajol in 1999. The couple have two children — daughter Nysa, 15 and son Yug, 8.
Talking about balancing work and personal life, he said: “I try and balance my work very well. I spend a lot of time with my children. Sometimes it happens that you are stuck but most of the time I see to it that I spend time. I keep going to Singapore to spend time with my daughter Nysa and here also I do not work more than eight hours and not on Sundays.”
On the acting front, Ajay’s latest film “Raid”, based on a true story about money laundering, released on Friday. Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, the film also stars Ileana D’Cruz. (IANS)
