Karan Johar

“The man-woman dynamics of ‘Manmarziyan’ are beautifully chaotic. The atmospherics combined with the Anurag Kashyap madness makes this film a truly unusual and magical emotional ride! I was on an Amit Trivedi roller coaster and enjoyed every bit of it,” Karan tweeted.

The filmmaker also praised the film’s writer Kanika Dhillon’s writing.

“She captures the emotional beats with ease and expertise. The performances are extraordinary! A superbly solid, silent and sensitive portrayal by Abhishek Bachchan! So proud of his work! He is so amazing!” he wrote.

“Vicky Kaushal is all gusto and glory portraying a manic lover with genius abandon! He has some moments of brilliance in the film! Taapsee Pannu holds the strings of her layered character like an absolute veteran,” he added.

“Manmarziyaan” is a love triangle set between two men played by Vicky and Abhishek who fall in love with Taapsee. The film released on September 7.

“We often praise and honour our brave soldiers but we should not forget the important role their families play. Families of soldiers should also be remembered and honoured.

“It takes immense courage to let someone whom you love to go to border and risk life for the nation. Despite knowing anything can happen, spouses of military men strongly face all the problems and support them. In reality, families and loved ones of our army men are the real unsung heroes,” Sonal told IANS over the phone from Mumbai.

Released on September 7, “Paltan” is based on the Nathu La and Cho La military clashes of 1967 which took place along the Sikkim border.

Asked about her experience working with J.P. Dutta, who is known for making war films like “Border” and “LOC Kargil”, Sonal said that he is an ‘encyclopaedia’ when it comes to projects on war dramas.

“I feel nobody makes a war film better than him. He knows everything about wars. He made me learn about people who risk their life for the nation. While working with him, I learnt a lot of discipline from him. He is one man army,” added the 31-year-old.

Sonal will next be seen in Mahesh Manjrekar’s untitled drama alongside actor Vidyut Jammwal.

Dhruvi Jani bags first short film

Mumbai– Actress Dhruvi Jani will soon make her debut in short films with “Mind F**K”, which is about two individuals dealing with depression.

“In schools and colleges, we have had issues and topics related to depression. Be it art or cultural or even stage shows, this one topic is common to all. Even during my college days, I was inclined towards social relevant tasks,” Dhruvi, 21, said in a statement.

When people of her age prefer romance or teen based scripts, what led Dhruvi to take up a film on depression?

“A lot of credit goes to social media. In today’s digital age, I see a lot of people speaking about depression and many have even overcome it gracefully. Their stories are inspiring and when the same is dealt and handled by global celebrities it just doubles the impact.

“We have put in serious efforts to highlight this issue and I hope people like and appreciate my work. Sakar Raut, who is a renowned Marathi movie director, has shot the movie and it is completely shot against the beautiful landscape of Sri Lanka,” she said.

The film’s team is planning to screen it at various international film festivals.

Dhruvi is also playing the role of Suman in the TV show “Bitti Business Wali”.
