Why Farhan Akhtar asked Abhay Deol to not sing after ‘Senorita’

Mumbai– Actor Farhan Akhtar says he was highly impressed with singing skills of his former “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” co-star Abhay Deol, but he requested the actor to not sing after the film’s song “Senorita”.

Farhan recently shot for an episode of “The Kapil Sharma Show” where he cleared some rumours about him.

During the show, Kapil asked that there was a rumour that Farhan was so impressed with Abhay’s singing in “Senorita” that he offered him to sing all the songs of his upcoming movies.

Farhan said: “No, this is not true. I was highly impressed with his singing but I didn’t offer him songs from my upcoming movies. Instead I asked him to not sing any song after ‘Senorita’ so that the exclusivity of the song remains alive.”

Farhan is busy promoting his forthcoming film “The Sky Is Pink”. He is also being lauded for his first look from his film “Toofan”, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

“Bold and experimental is subjective. I believe there is a lot more to do. It’s a learning process and I am glad I am getting there,” Kriti told IANS when asked if she thought she had experimented enough with projects.

“Well, being experimental is subjective. Experimenting is all about doing something out of your comfort zone, no matter how basic it might be for someone else,” she added.

The model-turned-actress also opened about how the industry is changing for women, saying “content has today become the king and the deciding factor, which is great”.

“Things have changed because the audience has been accepting of stories around female protagonists that are today drawing in figures on par with top male star,” she asserted.

Kriti has worked in projects such as “Raabta”, “Bareilly Ki Barfi”, “Luka Chuppi”, “Dilwale” and “Arjun Patiala”. She has big movies like the star-studded “Housefull 4” and Ashutosh Gowariker’s period drama film “Panipat” in the pipeline.

“I am really excited. There are great teams involved with great scripts and I am absolutely looking forward to working with everyone associated with these films,” she said about her upcoming projects.

Shweta will soon be seen in the role of Gudiya, a strong and confident girl who is proud of her dusky complexion, in Zee Theatre’s upcoming teleplay “Gudiya Ki Shaadi”. It is about how she copes when she loses her eyebrows on her wedding day.

“The standard for beauty that society has set is questioned in the play. I think humour is a great way to educate people about deeper issues, and “Gudiya ki Shaadi” achieves that. It leaves subtle hints about how society, relatives and even families in many parts of our country perceive girls,” Shweta said.

“To be educated, to get married at a certain age to look a certain way or behave in a certain way and make a big fuss about nothing, because people are mostly consumed by what others think. This cine-play tries to break that notion,” she added.

Talking about “Gudiya Ki Shaadi”, she said: “The cine-play is about how Gudiya a day before her wedding accidentally gets rid of her eyebrows, making her look ‘different’ I didn’t shave my brows hence a lot of make-up to conceal it. Which I think was my once in a lifetime experience, I don’t know when will be I offered such a unique role again which requires me without my brows on screen. I looked like Gamora from ‘Avengers’, except brown and not green… I have never done theatre so as an actor…it was a refreshing experience to read and block it like a play for about 10-12 days and then shoot the play like we shoot movies/series.”
