Ekta Kapoor becomes a mother

Mumbai– Popular producer Ekta Kapoor has become a mother via surrogacy. She has named her newborn son Ravie Kapoor after her father and veteran actor Jeetendra, whose real name is Ravi Kapoor.

Her son was born on January 27.

“By God’s grace, I have seen many successes in my life, but nothing beats the feeling of this beautiful soul being added to my world. I cannot even begin to express how happy my baby’s birth has made me,” Ekta said in a statement.

“Everything in life doesn’t go the way you want it to, but there are always solutions to those hiccups. I found mine and today, I feel immensely blessed to become a parent. It is an emotional moment for me and my family and I can’t wait to begin this new journey of being a mother,” she added.

Sources close to Ekta said: “She was keenly involved in the entire process. She would take constant updates about the mother and baby’s health at every stage from the doctor. It was her pure determination to become a mother that made this happen.”

“A child is known for their innocence at such an age. Being constantly surrounded by cameras and shutterbugs makes the child lose this innocence that must be treasured. It’s terrifying and worrying to say the least,” Soha said on Ishq 104.8 FM’s show “What Women Want with Kareena Kapoor Khan”.

The 40-year-old actress, who was speaking to her sister-in-law Kareena on the radio show, added: “I don’t like my daughter Inaaya being clicked.”

She said there “is absolutely no privacy. Such things affect the growth of a child”.

Soha was last seen on the big screen in the 2018 film “Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3”.

Mouni, who worked extensively in television before making a foray into films, will walk the ramp for designer Payal Singhal’s ‘Qo’shilish’, which is being presented in collaboration with handbags brand Caprese.

The actress said in a statement: “I met Payal five years back, and luckily for her, her superlative designs and outfits precede the beautiful and kind person she is.

“I love her and her clothes. I remember telling her a year later that I want to walk for you and she said she will make it happen, and she did. I couldn’t be happier for the fact that my first LFW walk is for her.”

So much stigma attached to sexual crime: Richa Chadha

London– Actress Richa Chadha says there is so much stigma attached to sexual crime that sometimes it’s impossible to get even the bravest women to speak up.

Last year, the Indian audience saw Richa in “Love Sonia”, a film which deals with the topic of human trafficking.

The Tabrez Noorani directorial released in the UK last week. To promote the film, the Indian actress appeared on a show hosted by Victoria Derbyshire on Monday. She also used the platform to speak about a variety of issues, including the #MeToo movement — a global movement which is against sexual harassment and assault.

On #MeToo, she said: “It’s upsetting that those women who have come out and spoken, many of them have received death threats, rape threats, for some their livelihood has been snatched away.

“Primarily, there’s an issue of will and consent. There are many cases where a woman may have given the consent to sleep with somebody, but her will may not have been there because they will have a position of authority or power over the woman which they can blatantly abuse.

“So, this is a very tricky territory which we need to figure out to make this work, to create a supportive environment for women who speak out. The term for rape in Hindi is ‘izzat lootna’. Its literal translation is losing your dignity. So, there’s so much stigma attached to any kind of sexual crime that sometimes, it’s impossible to get the bravest women to speak out…because this then, becomes that one thing that defines them,” she added.

Maanvi Gagroo wants to do meaningful roles

Mumbai– Actress Maanvi Gagroo says she is interested in playing meaningful roles rather than just be a pretty face.

“I do not want to be a token female character — where all I have to do is look pretty. I would rather go for the one that takes the story forward,” Maanvi told IANS.

“In fact, when I look at a script, I try to see if I remove my character from the narration, does that affect the story flow? If it does, I say yes to the character,” she added.

Maanvi, who is seen in the web series “Four More Shots Please!”, says she looks at various things before taking up a role.

“A compelling script is one of the important reasons. Perhaps that is why, I did not look at the length of the character in the films that I have done till now,” said the actress, who appeared in films like “No One Killed Jessica”, “PK” and “Tu Hai Mera Sunday”.
