Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapoor to star in ‘Malang’
Mumbai– Veteran actor Anil Kapoor has teamed up with Aditya Roy Kapoor, Disha Patani and Kunal Kemmu in the upcoming film “Malang”, which will release on February 14, 2020.
Anil tweeted on Monday: “Together we are ‘Malang’. Pleased to announce my first with all these talented artistes. Film releasing on Valentine’s 2020.”
He also posted a photograph of himself with the film’s cast.
“Malang” will have elements of romance, thriller and action. The film is being helmed by Mohit Suri.
Mohit said in a statement: “With ‘Malang’, I am essentially returning to genre I enjoy the most, intense edgy and mad. I hope Malang is as thrilling and exciting an experience for the audience to see as much as it has already been for me.”
It will be shot in Mauritius and Goa from March onwards. Also, “Malang” is being co-produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, Luv Ranjan Films and Northern Lights Entertainment’s Jay Shewakraman.
Varun Dhawan takes up Norah Fatehi’s twerk challenge
London– Actor Varun Dhawan, who has showcased his dancing skills starting from his debut film “Student of The Year”, jumped at a chance to participate in a ‘twerk challenge’ which came his way from his “Street Dancer 3D” co-star Norah Fatehi.
The two actors are currently shooting in London for the upcoming film. And Varun sportingly took up the challenge to beat dance sensation Norah in twerking.
Varun on Monday posted a video on Instagram in which he can be seen having a gala time with Norah and choreographer Sheetal Pery.
In the video, Norah, who has earlier wooed the audience with her dance moves in songs “Dilbar” and “Kamariyan”, can be seen twerking with Pery. Norah then challenged Varun to twerk like them.
Varun did it like a pro at the drop of a hat and was cheered all the way by the whole team of the film, including lead actress Shraddha Kapoor.
“I often get challenged to twerk competitions on ‘Street Dancer 3D’ and I will do anything to win,” he wrote along with the clip.
Twerking became a dance craze over the past few years, with a slew of international celebrities, including Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Amber Rose, Beyonce, Iggy Azalea and Cardi B, joining the bandwagon.
Just recently, in an episode of a celebrity chat show, actors and half brothers Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter proudly did the twerk.

Mumbai– Actress Parul Joshi, who plays the lead in short film “Miyan Biwi Aur Banana” — which addresses the issue of menstrual hygiene — says girls should not feel awkward to talk about the menstrual cycle as it’s a natural biological process.
The story of the film, which features Sahil Vaid and Parul, revolves around a young couple.
As the film intends to encourage the use of biodegradable sanitary pads, asked if she had any moment of awkwardness with her male co-star while filming, Parul told IANS: “No, not at all. The whole team was very co-operative and sensitive throughout the shoot.
“My director Nina Shrivastava and my co-actor Sahil, we were all on the same page as to what we want to show and how we would go about it. So there was no awkwardness of any kind. I’d like to say the menstrual cycle is the most natural thing to happen to a woman’s body and I think we need to talk about it more without hesitation.”
She believes that a major part of a teenage girl’s mental energy is lost in hiding sanitary pads and in coming up with the most cryptic codes to talk about their menstrual cycle.
“The more it is talked about, the more free a lot of women would start feeling on a monthly basis,” Parul added.
“Miyan Biwi Aur Banana” is releasing digitally on Tuesday, ahead of the International Women’s Day which falls on March 8.
Mahesh Babu’s project with Sukumar dropped over creative issues
Chennai– Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu has revealed that he has opted out of his next project with director Sukumar over creative differences.
Mahesh made the announcement via a tweet on Monday.
“Due to creative differences, my film with Sukumar is not happening. I wish him all the best on the announcement of his new project. Respect always for a filmmaker par excellence. ‘1: Nenokkadine’ will remain as a cult classic. Enjoyed every moment working on that film,” Mahesh tweeted.
The yet-untitled project, which has been in the pipeline for over a year, was due to go on the floors later this year.
Mahesh and Sukumar had earlier worked together in the Telugu psychological thriller “1: Nenokkadine”, which bombed at the box office.
Currently, Mahesh Babu awaits the release of Vamshi Paidipally’s “Maharshi”, slated for release on April 25.
The industry grapevine is that Mahesh will next join hands with director Anil Ravipudi for a yet-untitled Telugu project, which will go on the floors from May or June.
‘Hamid’ to now release on March 15
Mumbai– “Hamid”, a film which explores an unlikely bond between an eight-year-old boy and a CRPF trooper, was slated to release on March 1, but will now hit the screens on March 15 after the makers decided to delay its release following the Pulwama terror attack last month.
Director Aijaz Khan said in a statement on Tuesday: “The nation was going through a state of grief and turmoil and we wanted to be one with the people of our country. ‘Hamid’ is above all a film about peace, love and most importantly about healing each other. We hope the film helps in spreading this very important message of love and redemption in these conflicted times.”
The film tells the story of how a boy named Hamid forms a relationship with a CRPF trooper and how it helps them find redemption and closure through dialogue and conversation. The film has been shot entirely in Kashmir and the eight-year-old protagonist is a local Kashmiri boy.
Siddharth Anand Kumar, Vice President, TV and Films, Saregama India and producer at Yoodlee Films, said: “We stood in solidarity with the victims of the Pulwama attack and had decided to push the release date for later time. Now with the film releasing on March 15, we believe now is the time that perhaps the film will be better understood, and perhaps more relevant, with its narrative that calls for peace and closure.”
“Hamid”, starring acclaimed actress Rasika Dugal, had premiered globally at the Jio MAMI 20th Mumbai Film Festival with Star in October 2018.
Learnt a lot from Aruna Irani: Sangita Ghosh
Mumbai– Aruna Irani’s “Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand” is one of the most popular shows of actress Sangita Ghosh. She says that while working on it, the veteran actress used to guide her and help her with the nitty-gritty of acting.
On her experience of working with her co-stars, Sangita said in a statement: “I had worked with Aruna Irani in ‘Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand’, and it was a pleasure working with her.”
“Aruna Irani, who has been a part of more than 300 films, also has a great experience in direction and production. She would guide me at each and every step.”
She learnt the “nitty-gritty of acting” from Aruna.
“She is an amazing actress and doesn’t fail to amaze us even today. I look up to her and I consider myself lucky to have worked with her,” said Sangita.
Sangita is currently seen in the show “Divya Drishti”.
Pakistan reinstates ban on airing of Indian content
Islamabad– Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Tuesday reinstated a ban on the airing of Indian content on local television channels.
The top court set aside an earlier ruling by the Lahore High Court (LHC) and reinstated a 2016 policy of the federal government banning the transmission of Indian content on local television channels, Geo News reported.
A counsel of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) appeared in the apex court as a three-judge bench headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmad heard the case.
“On October 19, 2016, PEMRA imposed a complete ban on airing Indian content on local television channels,” the counsel for the regulatory authority said.
However, in 2017, the LHC lifted the ban as the federal government had no objections regarding the same, according to the official. Later, PEMRA challenged the High Court’s decision in the top court.
The authority’s counsel also claimed that “Indian content had zero viewership on local television channels”.
After hearing the PEMRA counsel’s arguments, the apex court set aside the LHC order and reinstated the federal government’s October 2016 policy as per which Indian content cannot be aired on local television channels
Late last month, the LHC was moved to put a complete ban on trade, exhibition and selling of Indian films in Pakistan to reciprocate a ban on Pakistani artists working in Bollywood amid tensions between the two neighbours. (IANS)
