Aamir Khan Shuts Down “Coolie” Buzz: No Stake, Just a Cameo for Rajini & Lokesh
MUMBAI– Sorry, gossipmongers — Aamir Khan is not the money man behind Rajinikanth’s much-hyped film Coolie.
After the rumor mill went wild with talk of the Bollywood icon pulling strings for the film’s release, Aamir Khan Productions has officially shut it all down.
“Aamir’s cameo is just a friendly nod to Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth,” said a spokesperson. “He’s not involved in distribution. No calls were made. No deals. No stake.”
The denial comes after whispers that Khan had phoned PVR-Inox chief Ajay Bijli, allegedly asking for a prime showcase of Coolie to edge out the rival mega-release War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and NTR.
The theatre chain’s reaction? “Aamir has no financial stake in Coolie. This wasn’t expected.”
Meanwhile, Aamir and his crew are still riding high on the smashing YouTube success of Sitaare Zameen Par.
Back to Coolie—director Lokesh Kanagaraj is in full promo mode, offering prayers at a Shiva temple in Tiruvannamalai. He shared an emotional message on X:
“140 shoot days across 2 years. This one’s from the heart. Proud of you boys!”
The big Rajini vs Hrithik-NTR box office clash is set for August 14.
