Jagga Jasoos’ crosses over Rs 30 crore
Mumbai– Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif-starrer “Jagga Jasoos” saw a good jump over the weekend to take its total box office collection in the country to Rs 33.17 crore.
The musical adventure opened at the box office at Rs 8.57 crore on July 14, minted Rs 11.53 crore on July 15 and raked in Rs 13.07 crore on July 16, making the total collection Rs 33.17 crore, said a statement from the film’s team.
“Jagga Jasoos”, presented in a musical format, banks on the emotional ups and downs of Jagga’s and Shruti’s life as they embark on a mission to hunt for Jagga’s father.
Disney and Pictureshuru Production’s “Jagga Jasoos” has been directed by Anurag Basu.
Rajasthan filmmaker moves court against ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’
Jaipur–A Jaipur-based filmmaker, Praatik Sharma, has moved the court against the makers of Akshay Kumar-starrer “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” for allegedly lifting the punchline and the subject from his film “Gutrun Gutar Gun”.
A copyright infringement case was filed by Sharma against Plan C Studios, an alliance between Reliance Entertainment and Friday Filmworks helmed by Neeraj Pandey and Shital Bhatia, and Viacom18 on July 7 in a Jaipur Metropolitan Court. The court has issued a notice returnable on July 22.
When IANS contacted the makers of “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” about the allegation, they refused to comment.
“Plan C is producing it and Viacom18 is serving as a producer and presenter. There is one line in my movie – ‘aurat shadi karke ghar mai aati hai, usko toilet nahi milta, bawal hota hai, ant mai pati usko toilet bana kar deta hai.’ (a woman gets married and then doesn’t find a toilet at home, creates a scene and ultimately a toilet is constructed).
“Because of this line the distributors are telling me my film is the same film as ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha,’ Sharma, who had finished making “Gutrun Gutar Gun” in 2015, told IANS.
Indu Sarkar’ row: Bhandarkar asks Rahul Gandhi to take action
Mumbai–National Award winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar on Monday urged Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi to take action against the local Congress party workers, who are sending threats to the director regarding the release of his forthcoming film “Indu Sarkar”.
Bhandarkar was forced to cancel the promotional activities of his film in Nagpur and Pune last week after receiving threats from the party workers.
“I requested Rahul Gandhi on Twitter to keep a check on his party workers who are protesting against my film. Lots of people have made documentaries on the Emergency. Congress is rattled since the trailer is out,” Bhandarkar told news channel CNN-News18 on Monday.
“The higher authorities in Congress have to play a major role and hold a press briefing to say that they condemn such acts. Do you want to run a parallel censor? Some Congress party workers have distanced themselves from me since the trailer of the film has come out,” he added.
Bhandarkar referred to his July 16 tweet when he tagged the account of Office of Rahul Gandhi on Twitter and wrote: “Dear Rahul Gandhi after Pune, I have to cancel today’s (Sunday) press conference at Nagpur. Do you approve this hooliganism? Can I have my freedom of expression?”
Lakshmi Priyaa to take action lessons for next film
Chennai– Actress Lakshmi Priyaa will have to take action lessons to play her part of an investigative officer in upcoming Tamil thriller “Rendvathu Aattam”, which stars R. Sarath Kumar in the lead.
“I play an investigative cop. There will be a few stunt scenes and I will be required to get the body language right. Hence, I will have to undergo some training. It’s basically to understand how cops deal with action,” Lakshmi told IANS
It will be the first time she will don khaki and she is thrilled about it.
“I’m playing a cop for the first time. I’m quite excited because it will be a very new experience,” she said.
Currently shooting for an independent film, she awaits the release of Tamil film “Richie”.
Trying to find balance between Bollywood, South: Amyra Dastur
New Delhi–Actress Amyra Dastur, who is part of both Bollywood and the southern film industry, says she is trying to find a balance between the two.
“I began shooting for ‘Anegan’ (My first south film) right after we wrapped the shoot for ‘Issaq’. My career began with both South and Bollywood and I’m just trying to find a balance between the two industries,” Amyra told IANS over e-mail from Mumbai.
The actress says she loves both the industries equally.
“I love both (the industries) equally but I’m doing more work in the South as the scripts I’m getting have fantastic content and good production houses backing them,” she added.
The 24-year-old actress says her priority is content.
“I’m more than happy to follow a good script anywhere in the world,” she added.
She made her debut in 2013 with the film “Issaq” and has featured in films like “Mr. X” and Jackie Chan starrer “Kung Fu Yoga”.
Amyra is currently gearing up for the release of her forthcoming film “Kaalakaandi”, which is releasing on September 8. The film also features actor Saif Ali Khan.
