‘Padmavati’ will be very tough, but I’m ready: Deepika Padukone
Mumbai–Actress Deepika Padukone, who has completed nine years in Bollywood, feels she has just started in the film industry and says she is ready for bigger challenges like “Padmavati”.
“I don’t feel like I have completed nine years. I feel like I have just started off. I feel like I have a lot more to give. I feel like I am ready for even more challenging roles and films. And I am excited about one of those experiences because ‘Padmavati’ is going to be extremely difficult,” Deepika said.
“But I think I’m ready for that experience and that journey,” Deepika added, speaking at the red carpet for Lux Golden Rose Awards on Saturday night.
The “Bajirao Mastani” star was also happy to talk about her debut film “Om Shanti Om” being made into a Japanese musical.
“They are making it into a play and the Japanese people loved Shantipriya (her role in the movie). The premiere of the musical is going to be in July next year. Most probably, Farah Khan and I would be going together for that,” she said.
There’s great demand for fresh, engaging stories: Rithvik Dhanjani
Mumbai– Actor-anchor Rithvik Dhanjani is closely associated with a new web series, and says it will cater to the increasing demand for fresh and engaging content.
The web series is the result of a collaboration between SonyLIV and Arré. It is co-produced by Rithvik and TV actor Srman Jain, and is planned for launch in early 2017.
Rithvik, who is currently anchoring dance reality TV show “Super Dancer”, also plays the lead role in the new series.
Talking about the growing demand of digital content, he told IANS: “Today, there is a great demand for fresh and engaging stories.”
The series is about a wolf pack of three best friends — a groom-to-be and his two quirky friends take off on a bachelor trip just before the wedding. With a bullying bride-to-be back home, some comical misadventures on a foreign sojourn and an unexpected encounter with a beautiful stranger, the protagonist comes to understand the meaning of love and friendship.
Short films bring out unexplored topics: Sonu Nigam
Mumbai–Singer Sonu Nigam, who has sung a song in the short film “Raakh”, says short films present many unexplored topics.
“Short films bring out many unexplored topics. I have sung a song in this film (‘Raakh’) which was liked by people. I am happy that the music is being appreciated,” Sonu said at the success party of “Raakh” here.
Actor Vir Das, who plays a negative role in the film, said he has never played such a character.
“My character in the film is something which I have never played in my life. It’s something that I wanted to do for a very long time, but I never got an opportunity,” said Vir, whose next year’s films, include “Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi” and an action movie.
The actor praised his co-star Richa Chadha as well.
“She is the soul of the film. Richa Chadha is looking lovely in the film.”
He also revealed the reason behind doing the short film, helmed by “Mastizaade” director Milap Zaveri.
“I had done ‘Mastizaade’ with Milap. After that, when he gave the narration, I was surprised that Milap was making this kind of a film. He gave a great narration and so, I said ‘yes’ within five seconds,” said the “31st October” actor.
The film is a tale of vengeance.
Whatever I do, I do to the extreme: Hrithik Roshan
Mumbai–Actor Hrithik Roshan says whatever he does, he does it in the best possible way.
The actor, who was present at the launch of Ananya Birla’s debut song launch “Livin’ the life”, said here: “I party very hard when it is time to party. I work very hard when it is time to work. When it’s time to sleep, I sleep very well. Whatever I do, I do to the extreme.”
Ananya, 22, is an entrepreneur-cum-philanthropist and daughter of Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group. She performed here on Saturday night.
Hrithik was here to watch her performance, and wished her success. Besides Hrithik, other guests at the event included Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anupama Chopra, Dino Morea, Rannvijay Singh, Prasoon Joshi, Shaina NC and others.
Films have become easy target: Farhan Akhtar
Mumbai– Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar says movies have become easy targets for people who want to grab eyeballs.
Time and again, people, organisations and groups raise their voice against films and makers of movies that may touch upon issues deemed controversial by them. Whether it’s trouble with the censor board or by way of petitions from individuals, this has become rampant over the years.
Asked about what has changed about the film industry, Farhan told IANS: “It depends from film to film. As creative people, we will abide by whatever the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting says. Their requests and recommendations are served to us through censor board.
“Films can become an easy target to create eyeballs because you are taking on a really popular person with nothing to lose. I do feel the government is the one who gives clearance to release your film, so it’s also at some level has a duty to protect you,” he added.
Farhan, who has directed films like “Dil Chahta Hai”, “Don” and “Lakshya”, has featured in “Rock On 2”. He says he is happy with the kind of scripts he is getting as an actor.
“There are different phases in life and right now, the kind of work that I am getting to do as an actor, I am happy doing that. There is a script called ‘Lucknow Central’ which I am doing and these are the scripts where I can’t be involved as a director. I am enjoying this experience as an actor,” he said.
