Asha Bhosle Passed Away Due to Multi-Organ Failure, Confirms Doctor

The legendary singer died at 92 in Mumbai after being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital; family confirms last rites will be held at Shivaji Park with final respects at her residence on Monday.

Mumbai–Legendary singer Asha Bhosle passed away in Mumbai on Sunday at the age of 92 due to multi-organ failure, according to medical confirmation from her treating doctor.

Dr. Prateet Samdani stated that the iconic vocalist was suffering from multiple medical complications and succumbed to organ failure.

“It is sad news that Asha Bhosle has passed away today. She was suffering from multiple medical complications and died due to multi-organ failure,” he said.

Bhosle was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday after reportedly experiencing health issues. Her passing was later confirmed by Maharashtra Culture Minister Ashish Shelar outside the hospital.

Her son, Anand Bhosle, announced that members of the public wishing to pay their respects could visit her residence in Lower Parel on Monday at 11 a.m., followed by the last rites at Shivaji Park at 4 p.m.

“My mother Asha Bhosle has passed away today. Tomorrow at 11 a.m., people can pay their last respects at her residence,” he said.

Earlier, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle had informed that the singer was hospitalised due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection, requesting privacy while treatment was underway.

Zanai had written on social media, “My grandmother, Asha Bhosle, due to extreme exhaustion and suffering a chest infection, has been admitted to hospital… treatment is ongoing and we request privacy.”

One of the most celebrated voices in Indian music history, Asha Bhosle began her playback career with the 1943 Marathi film Majha Bal and went on to deliver countless classics including Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, O Haseena Zulfonwale Jaane Jahan, and Yeh Ladka Hai Allah.

Her passing marks the end of an era in Indian music, leaving behind a legacy spanning more than eight decades. (Source: IANS)
