Neha Bhasin Remembers Late Father on Death Anniversary, Shares Emotional Childhood Memories

MUMBAI– Indian singer Neha Bhasin paid an emotional tribute to her late father, Ashok Bhasin, ahead of the anniversary of his death, reflecting on her childhood, her parents’ relationship and the lasting impact of losing a loved one.

The singer, known for the popular song “Jag Ghoomeya,” shared a heartfelt message on Instagram remembering her father, who died of cancer on November 4, 2018.

In her post, Bhasin described the pain of losing a parent and how memories have helped her maintain a connection with her father in the years since his death.

“4th Nov was probably the saddest day of our lives as Papu left us for his heavenly journey in 2018. I know we all lose our loved ones and that grief binds us all. But nothing prepares one to face a fact ‘I will never see my person again.’ The mind keeps delving into the past re playing the most beautiful memories with the person who is no more but now lives safely in your memory forever,” she wrote.

Bhasin said she frequently revisits memories of her father, hoping to preserve the moments they shared.

She also expressed gratitude for the upbringing she received, describing her parents as loving and respectful partners who provided a stable family environment.

“I keep re sharpening my memory to keep him as alive as he can be and I cry as I write this but as I grow older I realize I have had a beautiful childhood with two sorted adults who always loved and respected each other and created a well balanced childhood for us. Please bear with me as i muster the courage to pour my soul online today,” she added.

One of the singer’s most cherished childhood memories involves watching her parents sing together along the banks of the Ganges River as the sun was setting.

Bhasin recalled sitting with her sister as their parents performed a song against the backdrop of the evening sky, creating a moment that has remained vivid in her memory.

The singer said she chose to sing the same song in her tribute as a way of reconnecting with that experience.

“I sing this song to replay my favourite memory of my parents, sitting on the banks of Ganga ji the sun was just about setting. They both sang this profound song seated in a perfect cinematic silhouette while my sister and I watched them create magic. My father had his imperfections but he was a v good man and he is and will forever be missed. Love u papu,” she wrote.

While acknowledging that her father was not without flaws, Bhasin emphasized that she remembers him as a good man whose presence continues to be deeply missed.

Ashok Bhasin died in November 2018 following a battle with cancer.
