Saurabh Shukla Says “Perfect” Marriage Is a Myth, Urges Embracing Imperfection

MUMBAI — Actor and filmmaker Saurabh Shukla says the idea of a “perfect” marriage does not exist, arguing that imperfection is what gives relationships meaning and room to grow.
Speaking about relationships, the National Award-winning actor said perfection is both unrealistic and unappealing, while imperfection reflects the true nature of human connections.
“Thank God, there is nothing called perfect in anything in this world. We are imperfect people. We should celebrate imperfection,” Shukla said.
He added that striving for perfection leaves no space for growth, whereas imperfection allows relationships to evolve.
“Perfection is highly boring. Perfection means there is no other chance for any improvement. Imperfection means there’s still something that can be done about it, and that is life,” he said.
Reflecting more broadly on life, Shukla said the only certainty for humans is death.
“So, I think the only perfect thing right now from a human perspective, I’m saying; I don’t know about post-death or anything but I think the only perfect thing in this life, which is absolutely perfect, is death. It is the only truth. What happens after that, we don’t know,” he said.
“Maybe when people go there, they will understand what it is. But till now, we don’t know anything.”
Shukla’s latest film, “Jab Khuli Kitaab,” explores similar themes through the story of an elderly couple whose long marriage is tested by unexpected revelations. The film follows Gopal and Anusuya as they navigate love, forgiveness, and rediscovery.
The actor is known for roles in films such as “Satya,” “Nayak: The Real Hero,” “Yuva,” “Lage Raho Munna Bhai,” “Barfi!,” “Jolly LLB,” “Kick,” “PK,” “Jolly LLB 2,” and “Raid.” He is next set to appear in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “King.” (Source: IANS)
